The seeds that I started last week have begun to sprout. This time of year, I want to stay outside . . watch the birds, watch the seeds sprout . . just enjoy the sunshine and warmth.
Can you see those few little sprouts poking their green little heads through the potting soil? Are you excited to see those? 🙂 I sure am!
There are six “cups” in each row. Rows 1 – 3 are Luffa, Row 4 is Brussels Sprouts, Row 5 is Better Boy tomatoes and Row 6 is Rutgers tomatoes. These will probably be planted into bigger cups to get a little larger before transplanting into the ground, especially the luffa.
Each little section in this group has 6 seeds and I’ve numbered the 12 little sections. Here’s what’s planted (and I’m posting this here mostly so I can remember what I planted in case I lose my list).
- Jalapeno Pepper
- Purple Cherokee Tomato
- Sweet Bell Pepper
- Sweet Bell Pepper
- Cubanelle Pepper
- Beefsteak Tomatoes
- San Marzano Tomatoes
- San Marzano Tomatoes
- San Marzano Tomatoes
- Brussels Sprouts
- Red Currant Tomatoes
- Red Currant Tomatoes
These should be able to stay in their little cups til time to plant them in the ground.
That’s over 80 tomatoes if they all sprout (they won’t), plus I have some Porters started in another container. Every year I say I’m not planting so many and every year . . I do!

Poor thing…it is a mental defect. I don’t know whether you can ever ‘fix’ it :-). Enjoy canning this fall. Lots of canning. Lots and lots of canning…
