Here’s my explanation for the yarn from Eat, Sleep, Knit that arrived this past week. They have this . . what do I call it? . . gimmick! Each month, Madelinetosh has a special, limited edition colorway and it has something to do with Georgia, where ESK is located. In January, it was Chattahoochee.
I wasn’t going to get any but then I knew as soon as it was gone, I’d be sorry. Not having a clue what I would do with it, and knowing I didn’t want to . . oh, wait . . knowing I couldn’t afford to get a whole sweater quantity each month, I decided I would buy two skeins of each month’s color in the Vintage base so I bought two skeins of Chattahoochee in Vintage.
Then February rolled around and they had already posted that some of the Madtosh bases were backordered. All the bases when up in the new colorway, Centennial Park, except Vintage! What should I do? After all, I already had the January yarn and I didn’t want to miss the February yarn so I ordered two skeins of DK. Wouldn’t you know it . . a couple of days later, Centennial Park showed up in the Vintage base so I figured I’d go back to my original plan and order two skeins of that. That’s how I got four skeins for last week’s Yarn Report.
Then I found the Sugar Plum Cardigan and knew I had to make it in those exact colors for Addie. I’m going to make it in size 6 because she will probably be out of size 4 by the time I get it made so that’s how I ended up with 7 more skeins. Normally I like to choose my own colors but this one is so perfect in the colors as shown on the pattern, I chose those same colors.
I cannot wait to make this for her! So, you see . . sometimes, you just have to buy more yarn, even though you have too much already but when those adorable patterns are released and there’s nothing in the stash that will work .. you have to do what you have to do . . right?

you don’t need to explain it – just buy it 🙂 you will use it eventually and it might be by time you do the price will have gone up on it so you will have saved yourself some money – of course if you didn’t buy it to begin with you would have saved yourself some money – but let’s not go there!

Judy, that was the funniest post. You don’t need to justify your purchases to us. We all get it!!! After all, didn’t all of us invent the term “stash”? That is why the companies love us. Enjoy.

You are preaching to the choir. And we all say amen.

I understand your logic and I don’t even knit. What I’m curious about is– did Vince buy your logic or just roll his eyes? Your posts make me laugh til I hurt.

He honestly doesn’t pay a whole lot of attention to what comes in. He loves giving me a hard time about it but I think he’s happy that I enjoy knitting.

Judy I am so glad you are HUMAN and you are willing to share that with us! I’m going to have to report about 11 yards of fabric later today that I bought, and I was sitting here trying to decide how to explain it because I am feeling guilty. But wait – I bought it because I loved it, and I want to use it, and the colors made me happy. It did not cause a financial problem for my family. Sitting here feeling guilty takes all the joy out of having bought it in the first place. So I’m going to try to stop letting it make me feel bad since that defeats the whole point of having bought it, and just think about those pretty colors in a quilt that may or may not actually get made. Thanks for being honest about who you are and what you do, and setting a good example! 🙂

Do I ever understand. I’m not a knitter, but a avid quilter. Just insert the word fabric in place of yarn and I could have written your blog. Never going to get any criticism here, I’m right there with you.

LOVE the colors of the sweater for Addie, they look so soft! Of course the good grandma that you are, you had to buy it for her.
