Oh, dear . . I never posted the yarn report yesterday. My recliner is still broke! The furniture store told me week before last they would try to get here that week and they didn’t and I heard nothing from this this past week so Vince called the manufacturer and we’ll see where we get with them. We ordered a new La-Z-Boy back in December and the arrival date is supposed to be mid-February. I had no idea that my current recliner would not be fixed by then but it looks like the new one will arrive before the old one gets fixed .. and the “old one” is not even 2 years old so, yes, I’m pretty aggravated about it. But the reason I’m telling you all this . . my laptop usually sits on the side table next to my recliner so whether I’m knitting or reading, it’s real convenient for me to grab the laptop and make a blog post. Now, that my chair is not usable, I have to get up and go to a computer. I guess the bottom line is .. I’m lazy and even though I think that I should get up and get the blog posts done, I sometimes just don’t do it.
So . . the yarn report. First, the blame must be assigned. Eat, Sleep, Knit has their power boost yarns where you get either 50%, 100% or even 200% more for the Yarnathon. How can you not buy those power boost yarns? They change every quarter (I think) and right now, Madelinetosh Chunky is at 100% so . . if I order 1,000 yards, I get credit for 2,000 yards. Also, if you order more than 6 skeins of one color, you get “sweater quantity boost” of 50% so if I order 1,000 yards, I get 2.5 x, or 2,500 yards credit. Now . . that is a deal I cannot pass up. Once a yarn is gone, often it isn’t restocked for months, especially Madelinetosh. I absolutely love Madelinetosh Chunky. It knits up quickly and is very tightly twisted. I had been wanting Thyme and the stock of most all the other colors I liked was pretty much depleted so I kept watching Thyme. I wrote my friend, Amy, and told her I hadn’t purchased it yet but I was watching it and her response:
You know you wanna order that Thyme. It’s on sale AND Power Boost. Just do it.
So, I did it! So the 10 skeins of Madelinetosh Chunky that were added this week are all Amy’s fault! 🙂
As far as used, nothing got finished but honestly, I’m so close to finishing two sweaters and a pair of socks and that will almost bring me out of the red when I finish those so I’m not concerned about my numbers . . not yet.
I did order yarn for the second semester of Loopy Academy but I didn’t go hog wild on my projects. They’re very do-able and I’ll get them done quickly. I’ll tell you more about those next week when the yarn arrives. For now . . I’m just warning you that the yarn is coming! 🙂
Used this week: 0 skeins
Used since 1/1/2015: 11 skeins
Added this week: 10 skeins
Added since 1/1/21015: 37 skeins
Net Used since 1/1/2015: 26 skeins (red means I’ve added more than I’ve used).

I gave my brother a lazy boy recliner and it broke (the metal holding the back deformed and the back permanently relaxed into an almost floor-laying position.) He had it less than a year. My husband removed the original metal parts holding up the back and replaced them with something much heavier and configured so that it would support more weight (getting up and down puts a lot of load on those brackets.) It hung in there another four years before meeting its untimely demise.
Lazy boy needs better designers.

We’ve had really good luck with Lazy Boy recliners. Vince had a very old one that he wore holes in before I convinced him it was time to get rid of it .. probably 12 years old. The one he currently has is probably 7 years old and my less than 2 year old recliner is not a Lazy Boy so that’s why we went back to them .. because the ones we’ve had have lasted a long time.

In the mid 70s, we bought a Lazy Boy recliner (our first). It was made of Naugahyde. Remember that stuff? It looked great and we loved it, but since it was really plastic, it cracked and I took a upholstery class at the local joint vocational school and recovered it. Believe it or not, that recliner is still in daily use or almost daily use. I’ve never had any complaints with the company. I did use the best quality upholstery fabric available at the time.

That Amy – she really is a bad influence isn’t she! 😉 I’m still feeling very virtuous at the moment since (1) I have not been the one coercing your into buying more yarn (that has been “Bad Amy”) LOL and (2) an entire month into the new year and no new yarn has crossed my doorstep. Tho I do have Loopy Academy yarn for one project coming next week – but at least that comes in and gets used right away.

I guess I need to watch what I email to you because it seems to end up on your blog. How come you don’t post when I tell you NOT to buy something? LOL

I only do it when I need to blame someone else for my bad actions! If you convince me to do something good, I take credit. Otherwise .. it’s your fault! 🙂
