This weekend has been so beautiful – sunny and warm. We made a quick trip to town yesterday morning but spent the rest of the day working. Vince and a friend were supposed to be working on cleaning out the new area of the garden but I think they worked on other things which needed to be done.
I was looking ahead to the forecast this week and most of the week is going to be sunny and springlike. You folks who are still getting snow, please don’t hate me but this is our Wednesday forecast.
Winter isn’t over . . we’ll still have some cold nights and chilly days but for now, there’s no ice in our forecast and very few below freezing nighttime lows.
Spring is coming and I’m so ready to be outside working, to have a gentle warm breeze, sunshine and dry ground. Even though we haven’t had a lot of rain this winter, we’ve had a lot of drizzly days and with no grass due to the drought, it seems we’ve had mud for months . . which means dirty eggs from muddy chicken feet, paw prints on the wood floor from dog feet and lots of muddy shoes to be cleaned that are left outside the doors. Even the path we’ve taken through the woods on the RTV has become a muddy, rutty path and that’s never happened before. I can hope that means we’ll be getting more rain in the spring and summer too but I doubt it means anything.
You know that it won’t be any time til I’m complaining about the 110+ degree days but for now, I’ll enjoy the 77º days and 50º nights.

I almost didn’t post this because I know so many are suffering in the cold and nasty weather. Stay safe and warm!

It’s nice to see someone enjoying warmer weather even if there is new snow outside my door this morning. 🙂 I wish mother nature would just let the sun shine a little bit more here rather than all the gray and dreary looking days we’ve had. For some reason the thought of muddy chicken feet just makes me laugh – leaving little tracks all over the hen house.

I can only wish our temps were warming up like that! Another month and we’ll be steadily in the high 50s, low 60s … IF we’re lucky. Could be two. But it hasn’t been too bad, so far, all things considered. I’d still take those 70s any day!

Here in NJ we’re expecting a blizzard with 2-4 feet of snow…….what to swap? Elaine

I have to laugh at your heading. I’m thinking it’s only January and we have at least until March before we’ll see signs of spring.

Jealous, here in Massachusetts, but I’m getting excited to watch your garden develop this year! (Not to mention the chickens, dogs, cat, the quilting and the knitting.)
