It’s an action packed Saturday at our house! 🙂 Seriously . . not so much. The National Guard folks are doing what they do back behind us and it sounds like a war zone. I love it when there’s activity at the Guard, except when they’re practicing their IED explosions and that rattles my windows and makes me jump every time one goes off. If it’s quiet in the house, we can hear the guns but mostly I hear it when I’m outside. I smile every time I hear a round going off .. just thinking how much fun some of those folks are having. I always think . . I’d like to go back there and watch but there Guard has so much land, even though it all sounds real close, I’m betting I couldn’t even see them if I rode to the fence line.
Vince has to make a run to the dump. I came up with a new plan for the meal worm beds and like the good sport that he is . . or else he wants something from Walmart or Home Depot . . he’s agreed to go with me to look at what it would take to do the worm bed.
For now, the new ones have all been dumped into a Rubbermaid bucket, fed and I’ll try to find a dog safe area to leave them til I can get them set up the way I want them. Their permanent location, as permanent as it gets til they get fed to the chickens or blue birds, is in the well house but for now, they’ll be in my dining room. Sounds appetizing, huh? Mealworms under the dining room table! 🙂
Once we get home from errands, I’m hoping to sew a bit.
What plans do you have for today? Sewing? Knitting? Oh . . knitting . . I got down to the pockets on my Tea with Jam and Bread sweater last night. I wanted to see if I could get all the way down to the bottom and get it off the needles but I got too sleepy and had to stop. Maybe today I’ll get it off the needles. If I like the fit on this sweater, and I think I will, I’m making another one. I love making it.

It cracks me up that I never know what I am going to get when I read your blog–a lovely picture of your granddaughter, a pile of colorful yarn…or a bunch of meal worms! Have fun today!

I hope the National Guard noise doesn’t scare the dogs! It wouldn’t be fun to have them be all jumpy…hopefully they don’t scare easily! I hope to still knit this afternoon. I have sewing I could do, but I’m not sure I’m that motivated…

We’ve been out running around. I want to rearrange my computer area (multiple computers & monitors due to working from home) and we need a new bed. So out idea shopping. Now off to fix a homemade pizza and then talk my husband in to moving my desks and dragging up pieces from the basement.

Since we stayed home today-well I did! I got to sew a hood portion if the day.

Those worms give me the heebies every time I see them..they’re too closely related (in looks anyway) to maggots! GROSS! No WAY I’d have them in my house!! UGH!

We went to an area to look at Petroglyphs (Fremont Indians)today .. that was cool .. Saw some wild turkeys, a couple of foxes. Hmmm.. That was it for our day. Then came home to get the hubs new table in that he had built for his hobby (panning ). OH well keeps him outta the bars. LOL
Hey one has to put meal worms where they can for a time being ..Just remember to take them out when company comes over (it might freak them out!LOL).

They’re out of the dining room now so all is good! 🙂
Sounds like y’all had an interesting trip. We ran to town that morning but got lots done around here in the afternoon. Vince is back out working now.
JudyL says
Yes .. keeping him out of bars is probably such a struggle! 🙂 I’m betting the last time he was in a bar was probably as long ago as the last time when Vince was in a bar . . a LONG time ago!

The worms are not as gross after a while… got some for our bluebirds ( but they charge a fortune at the bird food store.. your way sounds better)… The bluebirds get some but the goldfinch, mockingbirds and others seem to get the most.
As for today, hope to get a binding on a donation quilt, and start work on another ironing board scrap cover that I found online… a great way to use up the scraps and a much prettier board.
JudyL says
Amy, they reproduce quickly and aren’t much trouble but you do have to keep them fairly warm in the winter.
I don’t think the mockingbirds can get in our feeders but I’m not sure. I know the finches can but I try to keep enough thistle seed to keep them interested in those instead of the mealworms.
