I should give up trying to be organized. I was looking for a particular yarn yesterday and came across this box:
At least I was honest about it. But, I guess it doesn’t really matter .. it’s just me and what’s the use of not being honest when it’s just me. There’s still packing tape on the box so I haven’t bothered to look at it in 3-1/2 years. Does that mean I should get rid of it or open the box and see what’s in there and try to figure out what to do with it?
One day I say to myself . . I’m never buying another skein of yarn again. The next day, I can’t pull myself away from the yarn shops. Hopeless . . that’s what I am.

as long as you eventually use it what – I was cleaning out some things the other day from my quilting supplies I found a box on the shelve and it had a copy of a quilt that I had printed out from the computer – I had drafting paper, a compass, ruler & pencil, paper – I evidently was going to copy the pattern to make – and then forgot about it – I never missed any of the supplies! and then I look at the photo and though my god that would have been a hard quilt to copy – and tossed the picture and put the supplies with others wondering when I would ever use them as I’m not sure how long they had all been in that box!

Ugh. I am right with you there. I think you should open it, look at it, and if you can’t rededicate it and put it in another box, close it. If you feel overwhelmed, teach someone to knit and give it to them. Or just donate it! Sell it?

Send it to me! 😉
I would open it when you have the urge to buy more yarn. Think what a treat it will be!

Have you thought of organizing your yarn on Ravelry? I resisted that for a long time, but now I have it all listed and labeled as to which bin. You wouldn’t have to take photos, unless you wanted to sell it.

Oh, I can relate! Despite the fact that I am not wanting to write tomorrow’s stash report, I just caught myself perusing a few websites…. It doesn’t help that I got an email from the Fat Quarter Shop that a fabric line I was waiting for is now in stock. And it is gorgeous, but I know I have boxes of stuff already waiting to be used. Such a dilemma….

Your label cracked me up! Not just “unknown” or “unplanned” but clueless!

If you’ve gotten by without it for 3.5 years, I’d say you could give it away and not be any the worse for not looking.

I’m right there with you, Judy. I know the feeling with yarn and with fabric. The problem with getting rid of it is that I still like it. I did do a purge a few months ago, but I’ve ordered more yarn since then.

I would definitely OPEN IT and see what I had NOT been missing. 🙂 Maybe there is some stuff in there that Nicole would like or something you could make for Addie.
