It’s been a while since I’ve shared pictures of Addie. There’s a line I don’t want to cross . . where the blog becomes all about Addie. It’s not always easy for a grandma to be reasonable when it comes to sharing pictures of her grandbabies. I trust y’all will let me know when I’ve crossed that line.
Last night Nicole posted these pictures of Addie on her Facebook and I have this theory that anything Nicole posts about Addie is there for my “borrowing” so I “borrowed” her photos.
One thing I’ve shared her before is that when Chad first began dating Nicole and I had not met her. I said “Tell me about her!” and he smiled and said “Mom, she always has a smile on her face.” I think we sometimes underestimate the power of a smile. Nicole does always have a smile on her face and she is enthusiastic about everything she does. With the most mundane of tasks or conversations, Nicole can make it an adventure. Addie can sneeze and Nicole puts so much enthusiasm into her “Bless you!” that Addie giggles. Just being around Nicole, or talking to her on video chat, and then being around folks who have either lost their zest for life, or maybe never had it, just reminds me all over again about the importance of finding and sharing joy.
Back to Addie . . Nicole was doing laundry yesterday afternoon and as she was taking clothes out of the dryer, Addie saw one of Chad’s work shirts and wanted to put it on. I would probably have said . . no . . it’s clean and I don’t want you to mess it up, but Nicole put it on her.
As soon as Nicole got her all buttoned up, Addie announced that she was ready to go to work!
I think it’s safe to say she has her mom’s enthusiasm for life.
It’s funny to watch her develop. My thinking is that when you raise your own children, you see them every day and because of that, the changes aren’t so pronounced. When I was there in September, Addie was talking a lot but mostly a few words . . not sentences or carrying her side of conversations but she’s doing that now.
Yesterday while video chatting with her, she tossed a ball at Nicole for Nicole to catch it. She didn’t and Addie said “Get it!” and Nicole said “I don’t know where it is.” Addie said “It’s behind you!” She wasn’t talking like that when I was there in September.
Also, there was a song Nicole wanted her to sing for me. Addie stood up on her bed and she was in full entertaining mode. She would throw her arms out as she was singing . . just like she had seen on her videos. I was cracking up watching her.
When we start to say goodbye, she kisses me through the iPad. That’s great but now she’s decided that I must also kiss all her dolls and stuffed animals and sometimes getting off the video chat with her takes quite a while . . but I’m not complaining.
I’m so thankful for having Nicole as my daughter-in-law and for technology that allows us to be close when we are many miles apart.

What a doll! It’s so nice that you get to video chat and see her developing. I think when they start really talking is my favorite age. It seems their language just explodes. I still remember the first time Taylor and I sat at the kitchen table and just chatted all morning. Now, at 3-1/2 she’s very in to make believe and makes up these fantastic stories about her dolls and stuffed animals. I love being a grandma!!

Judy,
I love anything you post. Your blog is the only one I faithfully follow. You have given me so much pleasure and entertainment since my friend put me onto you. I’ve learned so much from you about chickens, knitting, foods, quilting and life in general. Thank you so much as I know keeping your blog has to take an enormous amount of time, thought and creativity. Because I’m relatively new to knitting, I really value your appraisal of yarns. I’d rather purchase brands you use rather than do an online purchase and have to do a return because I dislike what I ordered. So please keep up your yarn reviews so I know which ones are worth purchasing. In short…..bring on Addie pictures and continue with what you’ve been doing. I don’t have a blog so it appears I’m not participating with your events, but I am. Here’s to 2015!!

So glad you share Addie with us. My grandchildren are all in their teens and are just not that much “into” Grammy right now, so I am loving having a little one to enjoy!

Addie is a cutie, and “dress up” pictures are so fun! When I was little I loved wearing my Dad’s old shirts as a “cover-up” while I was painting or doing other messy crafts. They were more like dresses on me…

I agree with those that said, your pictures are ‘never too much’. Those of us who have no grandkids love seeing what your precious little one is up to. I also am one of those who loves your blog and relies on your opinion on yarn, cooking equipment and many other things to keep me updated on what’s out there. Keep it up!!!

How absolutely adorable !! She has grown up so much !
Oh Grandma: US Grandmas have to share pictures of our grandbabies (well mine are 17,15 and 7) and seeing them grow up become wonderful young ladies is just a miracle thing to me. So precious how they make you laugh, think your thoughts aren’t old fashioned. But yet so glad you are there to listen to them when they are blue …Ahhh .. The precious ones (oh not that your own kids aren’t precious-but these you can sugar em up and send em home!LOL)

There can never be too many photos of Addie or too many quilts.

I cannot imagine you ever posting too many pictures of that precious child! She’s so pretty and so full of personality, just seeing her smile makes me smile. And I don’t even know her! 🙂
Share away, Judy. Share to your heart’s content.
