I’m not quite to the point of saying I’ll never complain about summer again but the ice is so frustrating. It’s mostly frustrating because Vince is so frustrated about not being able to watch college football.
Because it’s kinda far away, you can’t see it but everything has a coating of ice and this is where our internet comes from. With the ice . . there’s no internet and no internet means no phone (home or cell), and no TV. Not good.
The birds had completely emptied out all the feeders and I think it had only been 2 or 3 days since I filled them. I did it when it was still kinda warm because I didn’t want to be out in the cold filling the feeders but yesterday, I couldn’t get the lid off because it was frozen shut so I hope they’re finding food somewhere else.
This is the solar panel for the well and it has a coating of ice. Not much power being produced til there’s sunshine anyway.
Even the old pickup is all decorated with ice.
By tomorrow, it should all be melted and we’ll be happy to see it go!

Awe that’s too bad you have the ice!
We are fortunate that most of the time when a storm approaches we maintain our services.
Here we have snow squalls causing severe accidents as well as a 50-100 car pile up.
Hope you stay warm and cozy ??

Judy, I’ve been thinking of you today as I canned up a pot of New Year’s Day soup. I have been canning for years for the same reasons you cite, but you have really encouraged me to can more than tomatoes, beans, and soup. This past year, I canned beef and venison for the first time. I even canned some extra raw milk. It will be good for gravies and cooking but at least it is preserved and not wasted. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and joy!

This weather has brought a lot of birds into our feeders again. Need to go fill them, especially the ground feeder. No ice here, just raw. Low 40’s and heavy mist to a drizzle and very overcast. This reminds me a lot of our winters in Taiwan, but at least here we have central heat! Good day to stay in and get some inside things done and maybe a little sewing!

Oh MAN! I HATE ice! We got lucky and it pretty much missed us altogether. Just rain but COLD! Can Vince watch football live with whatever you use to get it? Don’t know how all that stuff works. Hoping for melting, thawing, etc. for you!!

Hard for those who aren’t used to having a winter! Pretty, though.

Brrr. We’ve had no precipitation, but the temps have been in the teens and the 20s for the past few nights. I think we may hover right around freezing tonight. We’re having a heat wave! I hope you thaw out soon.

OH I think ice is the worst, at least on snow you can get a grip with your tires. Ice once just slides all over the place (even with shoes on !LOL).
Our mountains have gotten alot of snow this December so far and I’ll bet the run off will be to quotient as far as snow pack and water.
I am so over winter already.. and so ready for at least Spring !
