This will no doubt be on my design wall photo tomorrow but I’ve re-arranged the blocks, added some more and hope to get more added today. The red block definitely doesn’t go and probably, even with more pieced blocks that have red, it still isn’t going to go. I like the blue one.
I still don’t have a clue how I’m going to arrange the blocks. Right now I just have them kind grouped according to the color I see first when I look at them. Since the ones with red seem to spin, I may have them kinda spinning across the quilt. The hardest part is deciding where to place the blocks, but they sure are fun to make!

I’ve got the book & specialty ruler for the “One Block Wonder”, (had it for a couple of years now) even bought some “large” print fabric to do it. But I’m a big chicken. I can’t seem to get the nerve up to actually cut up the fabric to make one of these wonderfully magical quilts. Terrified I’m gunna mess it up! Yours is beautiful. I love anything in blues.

I agree the red block doesn’t go. The rest of them look great. I like that you are back in your sewing room piecing. Do you think it will motivate me to getting out my applique blocks to work on? I’ve been knitting a slipper sock for days. It’s been two years years since my last pair and this is only my fourth pair I’ve ever knitted. I’m a bit rusty but it’s all beginning to make sense to me again. I just finished the gusset and started on the foot. I think I can stop holding my breath now at least while I’m knitting the foot part. I’m using the Magic Loop one sock at a time.

The blue block is on blocks that are predominantly blue. The red is on blocks that are predominantly teal. I think that’s why it doesn’t go. So are you replacing it with a teal one? I don’t think it hurts anything right where it is, really. It does draw the eye … but so what? =) It’s the burning sands of west Texas!

No, I had it with the reds originally and it’s a complete different shade of red and looked way worse there. I’m probably going to do one with golds/browns and see how it goes with the gold colored blocks. I have plenty of time to play with it . . no deadlines.

Started this in a class about 4 years ago… it is one of my UFO’s and will probably be for a long time.
Yours is coming along so well.

I know it is just me, but I love the quilt without those 3D blocks. They ruin it for me. I love the look of the other blocks all together spinning into each other and the “flowers” they seem to create. The 3D blocks just look totally out of place.

I guess I’m in the minority here. I love the red block! It’s like the kid who’s always loud & boisterous, making certain everyone sees him/her. 🙂

Judy, I really like your idea to spin those blocks across the quilt. It will be outstanding.

I have one that is at this stage also, but 1st moving and then other projects have gotten in the way:) Would love to see what the original fabric looks like.

I made one of these quilts out of a vegetable fabric. The placement of the blocks became almost obsessive. I would take pictures with my camera (the best way to see what works and what doesn’t) and then study them. Then I would rearrange part of the quilt, take a picture, study it and then put it back.
The pattern makes a beautiful quilt and one of these years, I’ll make another. I’m having trouble with the 3D blocks as well; they don’t seem to belong.
