Over the weekend a friend came and got more of our chickens. They wanted the 4 Polish Buff Lace and decided to take a Black Copper Maran hen and rooster.
Eventually, maybe in the spring, we’ll get some quail from them and we’ll try raising a few of those.
In the past ten days or so, we’ve gotten rid of 16 chickens and have probably 10 more to get rid of and we’ll be at a more reasonable number of chickens!

Does “get rid of” mean find a new home or dinner? My mom grew up on a small farm like you have (half the land but they had a couple cows but we’re talking a century ago in NJ) and one day her mom told her and her sister to get a chicken ready for dinner while she was out. They had never done the deed before and apparently the chicken was heard to have said, “Will you get this over with already?!?! My neck is getting sore!”
