Because I’m trying to plan my knitting for next year because (1) I’m not buying yarn next year except for a few special occasions, (2) I have a tendency to do test knits, especially for Laura Aylor since I love her patterns, and then things from my own queue don’t get done and (3) I do much better when I have a list and a plan, I’m making a list of projects for next year. Here’s what I’m thinking and if any of you want to join in, please let me know.
I’m going to plan on knitting an adult project and a child’s project each month and anyone who wants to join me for any or all . . you’re welcome to join in and we can knit them together kinda as a knit along! Not all of these projects will get finished within a month, though that’s my goal, but on the months that we have a hat or gloves, maybe we can catch up on the previous month’s note quite finished project. If you want to do one or two or all, that’s fine.
So, if you’re wanting to learn to knit, get busy . . you have almost two whole months to learn or brush up on your skills.
I’m going to list my planned projects for each month and about the middle of the preceding month, I’ll do a blog post about possible yarns for the next month’s project and share links to shops that may have a sale or a good price on the yarn that would work for that project, and discuss the next project so if anyone wants to knit along, you’ll have a couple of weeks to get your yarn.
It’s a very lofty list and I’ll be doing good to get half of it done but hey . . if you don’t try, you surely won’t get it done, right?

Wow! And to think that I’m happy just getting a pair of socks finished. Love your choices. I may have to push myself a bit and tackle a sweater. So much nicer than anything you can buy.

i love your knitting plans! I’ve found that making a plan is always half the work, and also that it’s great fun to plan ahead and think of all the beautiful knit garmets and projects that will be comming from your fingers.
I’m fortunate to have 2 afghans (one knit, one crochet)that were made by my relatives. One is more than 40 years old and still looks like it was made yesterday. My daughter has claimed that one as hers, and i’m sure that it will be good for another 40 years of use when it’s passed down to her.

I had to chuckle to myself as I read your blog this morning. I decided last week that I’m not buying anymore yarn until I use up some of my stash – unless, of course, it’s for a specific project. Then I looked at your list of patterns and found that almost all of the adult sweaters are already in my queue! I’m sure I have you to thank for finding the patterns – saves me time! So, count me in on the KAL for 2015.

What a fun list!! I just had to add some of them to my favourites list!

Am working on a mitered sock afghan and it’s proving to be great fun! I had a friend gift me about 150 small hanks of yarn. Since I’m a beginner, it will be my only project for 2015!

I’m also making my plans for the rest of the year and 2015. My goal is to use mostly stash and right now the only exceptions are the one yarn club I’m joining next year, the two packages left for a current club that will come early 2015, and purchases for Loopy Academy and Camp Loopy. If Eat.Sleep.Knit does something similar to this year, I may play along, but I do like that you can use older yarn purchased from them for projects.
I set a lofty goal of finishing 50 yarn projects this year and am currently at 39. It will be close amd if I don’t hit it, that’s going to be my target for next year. If I make it, I will change things up. I also want to sew more now that I have a large space for it.
I love all the projects you have picked out and am trying to tunnel vision myself to only looking at what I currently have materials for, lol.

I don’t see Dirty Martini on this list. I’m blaming you for my having to start it…..

Have you ever passed up a yarn that to this day you kick yourself for not purchasing?
Amy (Waunaknit) says
What a great list! There are several that are in my queue also. I’ll try and keep up with you. Guess I better get off the computer and get busy on Carabe so I’m ready for BlueSand in January!
LINDA says
SEVERAL ARE ON MY LIST TO DO. STILL WORKING ON CARABE. LOVE HOW IT IS TURNING OUT. NEED TO PUT IT ASIDE AND FINISH A SWEATER I HAVE GOING FOR DIL FOR CHRISTMAS. WILL TRY TO DO A FEW ALONG THE WAY.

Thanks for the links to some fabulous knitting projects. If you do all of these, you and the familiy will be the best dressed folks around. Now to go collect some of those patterns. Great idea for making a plan…..

No more test knitting?
And, seriously, NO Camp Loopy? Nor any other unscheduled knit-alongs?
I’m not sure how long projects take you, but maybe you have time for these? You know people are going to tempt you!
BethL says
I think I will join you in January for the Blue Sand Cardigan as I have the yarn for that in the stash and it’s earmarked for this sweater already….not sure about the other months yet 🙂

This is a great idea! I wish that I could commit to a plan like that too, but right now, my life is too unpredictable. That said, I checked out all of your patterns, and was glad to see that “Persistence is the Key” is on it – I have that one on my to-do list too, so I hope to get it done sometime next year!

I am just getting my queue started in Ravelry – saving more as favorites than queue right now….boy, it is fun!
