Part of enjoying life is being able to laugh at yourself. I’m not sure if it’s old age, or just me being goofy but last night, I had a good laugh at myself. My alarm goes off just a bit before 6 a.m. You know I have my little game with Mother Nature that I’ve played for years. If I’m up before the sun comes up, I win! If the sun is up before I get up, she wins. I love starting my day as a winner so I try to be up before Mother Nature every morning. Living out here in the woods with no neighbors, I often walk outside with the dogs and I hear myself looking up at the very dark say and saying “Lazy girl! I beat you up again!” Mother Nature never responds! 🙂
This time of year, I’m always a winner because the sun doesn’t come up til about 7:20. Next week it will be 6:20 but that’s ok . . I’ll make sure I’m up before Mother Nature.
6:00 is early for me. There was a time when I could easily sleep til 10 a.m. but now, there’s too much to do and I don’t want to waste a minute. Getting up wouldn’t be nearly so hard if I could stop whatever I’m doing and get to bed at a decent hour. I detest going to bed. I never want to stop but from about 9:30 p.m. til whatever time I go to bed, I’m saying to myself “You’re going to be sorry in the morning . . ”
Last night, it was about 11:00 when I crawled into bed. Vince was already asleep so I was trying to be quiet and still. The minute I got all covered up, I remembered that I had wanted to make sourdough bread for dinner tonight so the sponge needed to be started last night. Out of bed . . into the kitchen . . stir up the sponge.
Back to bed. The minute I was all comfy again, I remembered that I wanted baked beans tonight and the beans needed to soak overnight. Out of bed . . into the kitchen . . rinse the beans and put them on to soak.
Back to bed. Just when I got all covered up again, I thought . . it’s chilly in here . . and I remembered that I was doing something in the kitchen and had turned the a/c down to 70º and forgot to put switch it back from manual to program so I got up again and fixed the thermostat.
Back to bed. My cell phone stays on the bedside table but yesterday, I had gone to town and taken the phone with me. It was still in the car and that’s what I use for my alarm. Ughh . . out of bed a 4th time . . out to the car . . get the phone.
Back to bed. Vince never heard anything!
When I got back in the bed for the final time, I had to laugh . . and then I hurried up and went to sleep before I remembered something else I was supposed to do!

We sound like we could be twins! I consider myself a night person, that really wants/needs to be a morning person, I love getting up before the sun does. I am a little OCD and when I get started on something in the evening I have a terrible time trying to get myself to stop and go to bed.

LOL…Crazy is good. Its sanity that is highly overrated.

LOL. . . . Vince sounds like my husband. . . . once he is asleep a bomb could go off right next to him and he’d never hear it!
But me, every time the dogs move, or the grandmother clock gongs, or the heat/ac comes one I hear it & get to “half sleep” until I can tell everything is ok.
With him having had rotator cuff surgery he has been sleeping on the couch since it is easier to get in & out of. I still hear him snoring or tossing & turning.
But I am glad that you were able to remember everything that you needed to do so you & Vince could eat well. . . . .that could have been a problem! LOL

Vince must be a hard, HARD sleeper!! I can’t believe at least some of that jiggling and jostling didn’t disturb him a little! Wish I slept like that!

As hard as he’s been working, he has no trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. I sleep that soundly every night but Vince is a fairly light sleeper, except for the nights when he’s done 4 or 5 hard hours after the day job.

We are heading into our dark time of year. Tomorrow the sun rise is 7:52 and sunset is 5:54; standard time will change it for a little while, but you’d find it easy to beat sunrise! (It’s way different in the summer though and this isn’t even Alaska.) Sounds like you’ll have a yummy dinner, thanks to your ups and downs, but I hope you sleep better tonight. Your Vince clarifies what it means to sleep like a rock! LOL

That made me laugh! We are alike, at least at night. I never want to give up and go to bed! I really need a 28-hour day to be perfectly happy. I was born on the wrong planet!

I’m like you too Judy in that I don’t want to go to bed when I should because there is just one more thing I need to do. When I finally crawl in bed at 1 or 2 am, I lay there thinking of all the things I “SHOULD” have done before going to bed. I have to admit that it’s hard to get up before Mother Nature though….unless I’m on a vacation or at retreat. Then it’s up with the birds and to bed very late.
