Many times we’ve discussed food preparations and in our prepping discussions, we’ve talked about different scenarios for when we might need to have a nice stock of food on hand. There doesn’t have to be a “zombie apocalypse” for us to wish we had a good supply of food on hand. The recent ebola scare, though it looks like it isn’t going to be as serious as it sounded initially, could have been a disaster, especially if there was an outbreak in your area. The flu season is coming and we may end up not feeling like going out or we may not want to be out with other sick people. There could be many scenarios when we would not want to have to go out to the grocery store.
When I’ve discussed canning food, many have commented that they just don’t have room to store food and I understand that. Valley Food Storage may be a solution to those with little to no storage, or for those who have no interest in cannning food.
A couple of weeks ago, I ordered a sample from Valley Food Storage. I wasn’t sure what I would receive but was sent a package of their Pasta Primavera to try. Today I fixed it for lunch. It was delicious! Straight out of the package, I fixed myself a little bowl of it and you know we like good food and this was good! I added some sauteed, partially cooked broccoli, asparagus, carrots and mushrooms.
The sauce was delicious! Honestly, I could see myself opening a package of this and fixing it for company. It was great with the veggies and it would be great with a grilled chicken breast but what matters most is that alone, straight out of the package, with nothing added, it was delicious and would be easy to fix and quite filling.
The sealed, dried foods from Valley Foods have a 25 year shelf life – they guarantee it.
I’ve always been hesitant to buy the freeze dried foods that are supposed to last forever because what good is it to have a full pantry of food if it doesn’t taste good and you’d have to be starving before you’d eat it? I can only speak for the pasta primavera but I don’t think anyone would have a problem eating this and enjoying every bite of it.
Please check out their website. At this time, you can order a sample and see what you think. Looks like they’ve taken down the offer for a free sample. Sorry!

I didn’t see anywhere to request a sample 🙁 Some of that stuff sounds really good!

Looks great, but looking at their site, they seem very expensive compared to other companies that make long term food storage.
Thrive and Wise are two of the bigger ones and their food is good.
Most of these makers (and there are MANY of them) will sell you a sample pack so you can taste several of their packaged food. Most don’t give it away I don’t think.
If you want to build up a supply that is for a long period of time (4 months to a year or so) I think it would be good to mix them as different companies have different foods. I would think that something that’s great once would become not so great after you’d eaten if every other day for a month or so. 🙂
And while canning at home in glass jars is great and you can do it for a great price, if you have to become mobile, jars will break and they are heavy, where as a plastic bucket of freeze dried food is more portable.
Also, you can actually buy your own freeze drier now, for less than $4000. You could make your own freeze dried foods and that way you would have exactly what you want.

Hello All!
Thank you so much for the review! My name is James and Im part owner in Valley Food Storage. A small back story on us, we started our company because most of the big companies food include ingredients that go bad within a year or two. Please, please go check your storage now! Also when pricing make sure you look at serving sizes, many companies say a serving size is 200 calories which is just not good enough. If anyone is interested we did put the sample section back on our site and for the readers of this comment please use the code friendsandfamily and get 35% off. And feel free to email me personally if you have any questions at valleyfoodstorage@gmail.com
Thanks
James
