The egg that had pipped and I stuck it under the other sitting hen has hatched and we have a little yellow baby!
When I went back out there during the afternoon yesterday, this silkie was off the nest and Della was on the nest! I love how they share responsibility.
One of the eggs in the incubator had pipped yesterday morning and all day I kept watching it. By the time we left last night to go to a dinner get together, there was a good sized hole in the shell and the little chick was just a squawking. It’s so hard not to help them but they say not to so I didn’t.
When we got home, we had a noisy little baby chick!
As soon as it gets daylight, I’ll take him out there and stick him under the sitting hen and she’ll think another one of her eggs hatched and she’ll do all the hard part . . keeping him warm and introducing him to the other chickens.
They are so cute and so fun to watch at this age.

Oh, I love silkies. I have a kind of funny story about a silkie, but I can’t tell about it here!!

So the question of the day is… how many chickens do you have now?

I’m all about letting the mama chickens do the work. =) Two cute little babies. I’ll be interested to see how many chicks hatch, in the end.
