I’m sure all you knitters already know about Loopy Academy. Amy wrote me about it last night and I had not seen it. Then I wrote Nicole to see if she wants to participate. She’s a new knitter and I thought she would enjoy it. We’re going to try to do the same projects so I can help her if she needs help.
For our first semester, we have to do a cowl, mittens, and a hat and there are some other requirements. Here’s what Nicole and I are going to be doing.
Cowl – Father Time Cowl. I’m using Dream in Color’s Jilly in Tidewater and Nicole is using Manos del Uruguay in the color Pindo.
Mittens – Simple Mittens. We’re both using Cascade 220 Superwash. I’m using Heather and Nicole is using Mint.
Hat – Knotted Pine. That one is going to be a bit challenging so we’ll work on that one when I’m there. We’re both using Skein DK. My color is Thistle and Nicole is using Envy.
Here’s my order:
Here’s Nicole’s order:
Looks like one of us likes purple and one of us was leaning towards minty green! It’s going to be fun. If you’re a knitter, are you planning to do Loopy Academy?

Even though I have plenty of projects I couldn’t resist. I only ordered for the hat and the mittens so far.

this does sound like fun. i passed the info on to my daughter (who doesn’t knit)but she might have some friends who do knit.

Judy – I couldn’t resist! I checked my inactive library (after playing around and changing my email addy on the profile! which was an adventure in itself!) At any rate – I’ve added both the hat and the cowl to the library – and the mittens to my Amazon super obnoxiously high order! (NOT letting you know how high it ALL is – just let it be said that whatever you spend on yarn, I’m like that with books!!!! and – oy vey – am I in trouble!!!)
I DO have some yarn – and was interested to see that according to the blurb on the regular Ravelry page – I could use ANY weight of yarn (while, unfortunately, on the directions themselves – it says fingering weight). I don’t have fingering weight – but have sports weight – which it sounds like PROBABLY would work – and I could use the cowl outside in our very cold winter months! Do you think that is ok?
Karen says
Count me in – can’t pass up another excuse to order more yarn!

IF I was a knitter I’d have to do something with Pindo. Gorgeous colors! Hope all your health issues are over and done with.

Giggle, giggle … Hat?, Cowl?, Mittens??? In South Florida??? I don’t even have any friends left up north to give gifts to!!! Tee Hee!!!
Amy (Waunaknit) says
I like your cowl pattern. I may use that if mine doesn’t work with the yarn I chose. I mis-read the requirements for the cowl thinking it had to be colorwork, not a multi-colored yarn. Worst case I can always knit this one last and order other yarn. You both made great choices for your projects!!!
