Like so many areas, we have such beautiful sunsets. Depending on the predominant color in the sunset, the whole area has that tint. A couple of days ago, it was pink and, from sitting inside looking out, the whole front yard looked pink. Last night there was an orange hue to everything so I grabbed my camera and went out.
Through the trees, this is what I saw:
Behind the chicken coops, I saw this:
From in the middle of the orchard, I saw this:
As I turned to go back towards home, I was surprised at how dark it was in that direction.
So many thoughts run through my mind at this time of day . . I’m thankful for the beauty of nature and thankful that I see that beauty. I was thankful to see yesterday end . . it was one of those Mondays when enough happens that you keep waiting to see what else can go wrong before the day ends. I was looking forward to a new day today and right off the bat, we had a dead chicken. That’s always scary when there’s no evidence as to why she died. We’ll be watching the others in the coop to be aware if any of them appear to be sick . . nature can be both beautiful and not so beautiful.

Sorry about the chicken. The sunset pics are gorgeous! I’m so glad you take the time to notice them and share them with us. We live in the city and the city lights take away a lot of the color of our sunsets. Another perk for living in the country.
Hope today is better for you than yesterday.

What a gorgeous sunset. I hope seeing it took away some of the stress of your day.
Hopefully, the rest of your chickens will be okay.

one of the best things about “prairie” living is the sunset views. We see those same colors here in SD – sometimes purple, sometimes pink, and sometimes that gorgeous fiery red like in your picture. I never get tired of it and actually missed it when I lived in Minneapolis because you couldn’t really see the sky like that. Same thing with the stars at night – just hard to beat the view when you are out in the country far from city lights.

Ooo, those are pretty..didn’t have those colors up here! Is that taken with that camera V got such a good deal on? Can’t remember what it was but if it was one of those, they take GREAT pictures!

When I saw the first picture, I thought you were showing us something on fire. Then I realized it was a picture of the sunset. The colors are beautiful!

So sorry you lost one of your chickens. Nature can be beautiful. Nature can be challenging. Humans may think they can control and beat nature, but in the end nature always wins. All we can do is enjoy the beauty and deal with the challenges and carry on. We had one of those pretty sunsets the other night too…the beauty. So I guess that makes trying to keep the coons out of the sweetcorn long enough for us to get our share one of the challenges. I keep telling myself they really are cute. 🙂

Really love those sunset shots. I’m sorry about your chicken. I hope it isn’t something that spreads to other chickens.

Beautiful sunset. You are so blessed to be able to walk out your door or look out your window and have such a beautiful view. Some of the most beautiful sunsets I have seen were on the shore of Lake Michigan. Love the sun’s reflection on the water and watching as it sinks into the horizon. Living in the city, I do not have a good view of the actual sunset, but I love the reflective color in the sky.
