We went to a fairly new restaurant tonight for dinner.
The view was nice . . the food not so much. I doubt we go back. I ordered a 6 oz. beef tenderloin and got a pork chop. Vince ordered his meat medium rare and it was medium at best and fairly dry. I think we get spoiled eating at home but at least I know the difference in a pork chop and a steak!
We had a bit of rain today . . yay! Not so much at our house but there seemed to be good showers north of us which may have helped the lake. I looked at our forecast this evening and we have no more 100+ days in the forecast. Things can change but for now, I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Sounds like the meal reinforced your stay-home preference!

Did you complain about the meat? Did you send it back? I sure would have at least pointed the mistake out to the waiter. I like pork chops and beef, and I MIGHT have kept it. But I sure would have let them know the error … especially if there was a cost difference.

Of course we let them know. They weren’t real enthusiastic about fixing the steak and offered to discount dinner, though it wasn’t about the cost — I wasn’t happy that (1) I would have to eat what I hadn’t ordered or (2) Vince would eat without me and then have to wait while I ate so in the end, I kept the pork chop but we want be going back there.

Another Mother and I took 3 girls to Boston Pizza the other day. I’d ordered the Caesar salad as a starter but she wanted soup. They brought two salads. She didn’t complain as the rest of our orders were identical. Found out later they were short staffed and had gotten her to help out from the bar/lounge and she wasn’t used to serving food. So maybe there was a reason for the error… still disappointing for you.

We tend to let new places get the bugs worked out before going. But not knowing the difference between steak and pork is a problem! We had a funny one on one of our trips through Texas. We were coming back from west Texas through Sterling City. My folks had stopped at this cafe before and so had we. It was a great place for breakfast. A family of 4 could fill up on one pan cake! And we had eaten lunch there. We are coming back, Dad was with us and it was lunch time. New owners. Dad ordered a Reuben-it was made with hamburger and other things usually not found in a Reuben! He did say something and it was pretty much so what! So now when ever we are out and he orders a Reuben we remember the time in Sterling City. From your picture the view was nice!!!!!

We also never rush to a new restaurant. This place has been open for at least six months I think and we had heard good things about it. You never know about restaurants, do you? I can say I’ve never had a reuben with ground meat.

The general rule is that the quality of the food served in a restaurant is inversely proportional to the quality of the view from the windows. So the better the view, the worse the food. I have not found many exceptions to this, and all of my favorite restaurants have windows that face a busy street with both car and walking traffic.

maaybe it’s a texas thing… we were in ft. worth stockyards and when our drinks were delivered one of them was wrong but the waitress had left quickly. while we waited for her to return we could see another table having discussion aand looking for their waitress. she had switched the drinks, but luckily new drinks take way less time than a new meal! there were a few other mistakes like with side orders, the bill… but hey, we were tourists and the chance that we’d ever be backk is pretty slim, at least that’s the feeling we left with as each mistake was resolved.
