Since Friday seems to be the “all about knitting” blog day, I want to remind you of two posts I did about interchangeable needles. This one was done before I got the Addi Clicks. The Addis are the ones I reach for first, then the ChiaoGoo or Hiya Hiya. I suppose some folks don’t like the interchangeables and they are a bit expensive but it’s so nice to have every size you need, and any size that you find yourself using more, extra tips or extra cables can be purchased.
If you think you might like the interchangeable needles, and if you can afford them, or if you can add them to your Christmas list, I highly recommend a good set of interchangeables.
Nicole is turning into quite the little knitter and I just bought her a set of the Addi Clicks. She got this far with her first socks without having to rip back. It took me probably a dozen tries to get that far when I first made socks.
When I go visit them next, Vince told me to stay as long as I want to stay . . hmmm . . Nicole and I are going to knit non-stop, except when I’m snuggling with Addie.

After your comments about the Addi Clicks, I bought a set myself, and I love them! I have never cared much for the interchangeables, because they always come apart on me. I was forever stopping to re-tighten them, and that drove me nuts! I love the clicks…I could really use some more cables, though. I always have many projects in progress, and not enough cables. (probably too many projects) I also have the Knitpicks interchangeables and I still use them, but they’re definitely second choice.

There are 2 things I don’t really like about Addi clicks, and I wish I’d been able to “play” with them before I bought the set… one is that I have a really hard time getting the tips on and off. Maybe I’m just losing my grip? And also, there is that little ridge where the tip overlaps the cable, and it seems to get caught up on some yarns when I’m sliding stitches around. Is it just me?

I have a not-so-expensive set of interchangeables I got at Knitpicks – the rainbow wood ones – and I really love them. Every once in a while, when I’m knitting up a storm, the cable may begin to come a little loose, but it creates a little wobble that’s noticeable before it actually comes apart. I tighten it back up and am good to go again for a long time. I also like having them because sometimes I misjudge the length of the cable I need, and it’s good to be able to change to a shorter one if I’m knitting along and realize that my too-long cable is going to be in my way. I often do this when I start some magic loop socks and have picked a cable that’s too long. I need to get back to my knitting. I’ve got about half of the back of a nice warm cardigan going and I’d really like to wear it this winter. I think I’ll get it out and knit tonight. Thanks, Judy! You’re a good motivator.
