Having multiple quilts going at the same time has never bothered me and having quite a few that haven’t been touched in years doesn’t bother me but having more than one knitting project going at a time really bothers me. I wonder what’s different about the two. The only thing I can figure out is that I still consider myself a fairly inexperienced knitter and I struggle with figuring out where I left off, even when I make notes and am religious about keeping track in Knit Companion (which I LOVE!).
My current projects (and you know this list is more for my own use than because I think anyone is interested in what I’m knitting):
- Camp Loopy 3 – I’m knitting On the Grass using Malabrigo Rios in Pupuras (gorgeous deep purple). Today is August 2. I could have started on August 1 but wanted to finish Vitamin D first. I need to get started!
- Ashore KAL – Laura Aylor’s Knit Along for her hoodie, Ashore. I’m using a Cascade 220 Superwash in Red Wine Heather. The first instructions came out Friday and I haven’t started yet.
- 3rd Quarter ESK Project – Eat, Sleep, Knit’s project for the 3rd quarter is something that’s been in your favorites for the longest and I went with Honeylicious and that one I have started! I’m using Dream in Color Classy (the old formula) in Vague Unease . . a pretty limey green, though it looks way gray in this picture.
All of those going at the same time! I figure Camp Loopy HAS to be done by the end of August so it gets top priority. I’ll try to keep up with Laura’s KAL. ESK’s project is due by September 30 so I should be ok there.
And all the time I’m knitting to beat deadlines, I’m going to be spending an hour a day in the sewing room to. Yes, I am!!

Right now, I’ve got two active knitting projects — a plain vanilla sock and a giant squid with bobbles on the arms to mimic suckers. The sock is easy and mindless. The squid arms require counting rows and actually looking at my hands when I’m working the bobbles. And it’s double stranded worsted weight acrylic, so it gives my hands a break to switch from squid yarn to sock yarn.
I’ve also got a pair of socks with a lace pattern and the whole heel with a gusset thing that I can’t work on while Hubby is home 24/7. I can’t work on that one if someone is going to come into the room and talk to me without warning.
So multiple projects works well for me. But when you’re knitting for a little one (love that bear cowl you posted a few days back!) you’ve got to be careful how long you let things sit. I just found a UFO that I started knitting for my daughter seven years ago. Oops! Not sure what I’ll do with that yarn at this point.
I’ve got to thank you for the pooling sock yarn challenge, which motivated me to pull out my sock yarn last year. While waiting for life to settle back down I’ve been knitting sock after sock after sock. I think it’s helping my stress levels a LOT. 🙂

Judy, which brand of circular needles do you use most often or does it depend on the yarn you use ? I use wood needles. I have some circular metal needle but the medal makes the tip of my finger sore when I push it to complete my stitch. I wonder if I am holding my needles wrong? Thank you.
