Back when (WAY back when) I was an active longarm quilter, so many times I heard fellow quilters who were struggling to use their longarms. It wasn’t they couldn’t . . they just didn’t have the mojo to do it! You know . . that’s where I am with quilting. Advice given to those folks by me and others was always the same . . commit to a certain amount of time each day or each week and you’ll often find that you don’t want to stop once you start. So . . that’s the advice I’m giving myself and the commitment I’m making.
Unless there’s a really, really good reason why I can’t do it . . I will spend one hour each day in the sewing room!
By 2:00 p.m. today (when I finish this post), I will have the iron hot and the sewing machine running! I’m accountable to YOU . . to report what I’ve accomplished each day. There’s no plan, except to accomplish *something* each day in here.
This is what my design wall looks like right this minute. Let’s see what I can do before heading back home! Wish me luck! 🙂

Petting the cat for an hour doesn’t count by the way! I can’t wait to see what you accomplish!

Boots will be glad you are back

And remember, you don’t have to do the entire hour all at once. I try for 15 min before work, then a little while supper cooks, then hopefully at least 30 min after supper.

If you find that sewing mojo, please share it…I’m lacking in that area and need to restart.
The only thing that I am doing consistently is water aerobics at 7am. And, the only reason I am doing it is that my neighbor and I both committed to going so we feel bad if one or the other bails out.

Yay!! I miss your quilting posts. Can’t wait to see your finishes!

How exciting! I have recently begun reading your old blog posts just to get some quilty goodness! I found your site way back when and, although I am a fan of the cooking/knitting/chicken/gardening Judy, I do so miss the quilting Judy!
Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Good for you! Would love to see a snapshot of your food FQs that you plan to include in your quilt. If you would be interested in swapping, selling, giving leftovers I would love to have them.

Is Boots still with you? If so, I know he is happy to see you “visit” his abode!!
I look forward to quilty news from you but sure enjoy the knitting also.

Good for you! Hope your joy in creating beautiful quilts returns quickly. In the picture it looks like there are a couple of new jar blocks on the wall. It also looks like Boots has knocked a block off the wall. I am sure that Boots will be glad to have you back in your sewing room. It may be hard to get anything done because Boots will want to play. Happy sewing!
Joan says
Well, what was the outcome of your time in the sewing room today?????
Kim says
Yes!!!! I’ve missed the quilting.

I’ve been struggling with missing quilting mo-jo, too, Judy. I haven’t touched anything quilt-related in about six months and I can’t even force myself to go into my studio. I don’t have a longarm machine, but I can’t get enthused over anything quilt-related. I’ve learned to knit and I am obsessed with knitting socks, and I am learning the art of Zentangle and I play with that every day. I have come to the conclusion that trying to “force” myself to quilt isn’t what I want; after all, if it isn’t fun, why do it? Still hoping my quilting mo-jo will eventually show up again, though! I’ve got an awful lot of fabric stashed in that studio!

Welcome back. I had a 6 day sewing week last week and it felt so good! 1 hour is a great start to get your MOJO back. I have the hardest time deciding whether to Quilt or Piece a quilt now that I have a better machine to quilt on. Prepping for DWM post already. Thanks for the link-up even when you aren’t sewing.
Carolyn S says
Way to go, Judy! Hope you enjoyed your time.
Mary in VA says
I needed the reminder to “show up” in my quilt space. With or without kitty helpers!
Diane - FL says
I’m right there with you Judy. My sewing room has seen no love in a long time and it scares me. I have way too much time, energy and money invested in that room. Besides all of that, I have gotten so much enjoyment from quilting over the years. I’m taking it one day at a time. I’m going to try to just go in and sit for a while. Maybe that will cause me to look around and pet fabric. Fingers crossed!

I can hardly wait….was thinking of taking up knitting, but I like crochet better.
Been going thru the quiltin/sewing/craft/yarn left behind when left Michigan lasr fall. Got to get it down to manageable amount to take home to Mission. Our house we got has a quilting building(small) in back…Yippee!!! I have hardly sewn since last spring! Last night I found the presser foot for the machine here at my daughters…..sew….Ok, Judy, both us Texans have a challenge to sew.
