The other day I was talking about Ranger Cookies and several had not heard of them. They’re one of my favorite cookies and since Sara, the best blog fixer ever, added a cool new “recipe card” plugin for me, I thought I would share the recipe! The best part . . I had to make the cookies again! 🙂
What do you think about the new recipe card format?

Judy, these sound wonderful! But,I do very little baking anymore. We are preparing to start with the Grain Brain program, I am Diabetic, too much sugar for me. I would make them for the kids tho and send them all home with them. My DIL is super thin, a runner and work out type of gal. She has a hearty appetite for chicken and fish. Nothing with grease. And, she loves sweets. Our son does most of the cooking. The kids like fish and sushi. Our grandson will eat anything put in front of him.
I think I can follow the program until it comes to my stuffing at the holidays. That is when I will break down. I know a place in Tahoe (we go there next week) where I can order gluten free pizza. It will not be easy as my DH is an Okie boy and grew up on fried food. I want him to read the book as well.

Sounds yummy, Judy. Too bad I am dieting. Actually sweets have been the easiest thing of all for me to give up. Not as much luck with bread and butter, though!

I love the recipe card format. These cookies sound fantastic. I don’t bake very much any more, but I’m going to keep this recipe just incase I need to make some cookies!

Judy, is there a way to save these cards directly to my hard drive and not to Facebook? I don’t do Facebook and wasn’t able to save it. I could print it, but I’d rather keep it on the computer until I need it.

If it wasn’t 10:45 pm I would go make a batch right now!

Looks like it will be very easy for us to print the recipes you share.

I used to make these all the time when our kids were little. Wonderful cookies!

My recipe, I think, calls for raisins and choc. chips and M&Ms….. haven’t made these in years, but they were yummy.

Judy, I love the new recipe card format. It printed very easily, and will be easy to work from. Super! As to the cookies, I had a recipe for cookies by the same name, but called for wheat germ. They came out like cardboard, and didn’t keep well. My Menfolk didn’t finish them and I ended up throwing them out. These look like they will keep and I bet they won’t last long around here. Thanks for the recipe!

They sound good! One question, when do you add the oatmeal? Is it the same time as the Rice Krispies or the flour? Thanks!

I really like the format. I recall making these years ago when my children were young. The cookies were yummy.
I still love to bake and because we follow a paleo/gluten free diet all things fall into the grain free category, from muffins, cookies, cakes, and breads, pie crusts. etc. Happy to share recipes or info of where to get them.

Funny, I have this recipe that my Mom used to bake and passed down to me. No one know has ever heard of them but when I bake them, they love them. Thanks for the memory.

The first thing I saw was “Yields 5” and I thought “Oh good, I can make just a few!”. I’m guessing that’s really 5 Dozen, and YES a half batch sounds good!

Memories! I grew up with these Ranger cookies using the flakes and chips and walnuts instead of pecans. (We lived amongst walnut orchards.) I think the recipe was an attempt to add some nutrition to the ever present chocolate chip cookies. The large recipe was good for a family. Mom always put a few in the freezer for later on. (It’s harder to raid the freezer than cookie jar!)

these sound delicious. I can’t wait to make them.
