Please tell me that some of you do the same crazy things I do. I’m not blaming this on age because I’ve done these kinds of things all my life.
About once a week, I start to go to bed, or I’m already in bed about to fall asleep and I think “Where’s my purse?”. Last night we had been in bed for a while and I think I had already been asleep but I thought “Where’s my purse?” I hadn’t been out since Saturday and hoped I hadn’t left it in the car. I got out of bed, looked on the hook where I hang my purse and there it was. Good. I got back in bed. Then, just before I fell asleep, I thought “I hope the credit card is in the wallet.” It always is but I thought . . what if I’ve lost it and haven’t reported it. Got back up . . all the while Vince is sleeping like a baby. Went to make sure the credit card was in the wallet but . . no wallet! It wasn’t in my purse. It’s always in my purse!
Then I remembered that when we made the second run to get hatching eggs on Saturday, I took my wallet because we had already used all of Vince’s cash. Maybe the wallet was still in Vince’s car. Went out there and checked. No wallet. Came back in and looked everywhere I might have put it down. There was a lot of excitement . . coming in with 5 dozen hatching eggs and getting them in the incubator.
Somewhere between 2 and 3 a.m., I made 4 trips outside, each time thinking . . if someone gets me, Vince won’t even know I’m gone til he wakes up!
I was NOT going to bed without finding that wallet and I knew it had to be here somewhere. Finally, I thought . . the sewing room. Maybe when I did get the wallet out of the car, I went in to play with Boots. I made one last trip outside, went to the sewing room and there was my wallet . . right on the cutting table.
When the alarm went off at 6 . . I was not ready to get up. There could be a nap on my agenda for today.

You are not alone! This happens to me more than I would like to admit. 🙂

Thank you for knowing it is not just me!! I put more miles on my flip flops tracking down where I left things.. You are totally normal..

It happens to me, too. I always put my keys in one place and my purse in another. If one or the other isn’t in its proper place I must immediately stop everything and do a search. It’s a heart-jolting panic!

Yeah, I’ve been tearing the house apart looking for a HUGE blue IKEA bag. I can’t remember the last time I used it, so I don’t even know what I might have (?) lost.

It happens to me also. I think the brain takes some type of inventory, and needs to put closure to everything.
It can be so frustrating that it doesn’t just say did you remember you left your wallet in the sewing room.
At least you won’t get ready to use your wallet and find it is not in your purse.

I am right there with you, only I hope you put your boots on to go outside. :). I am the worst about my credit card, because I take it out to order something online and forget to put it back in my wallet. I am also bad about my Sam’s card. I put it in my pocket when I go through the door so I will have it handy at check out and then forget to put it back in my wallet at checkout. Hope you get a nap today.

Not laughing! I swear! 😉
Nothing more scary than not knowing where your wallet is-no matter what time of day it is.

Yup! Unfortunately I’ve done similar things more frequently than I can to admit. Your post probably makes a lot of us feel better knowing we are not the only ones doing this.
And in my house the cat follows me around – wondering why I’m prowling around in the middle of the night.

I have a problem many times remembering if I did something or if just thought about doing it. This started when I was pregnant and happened more often then. But I still do it. It happens with mundane things around the house, like “did I start the washing machine or just think about it?” But it happens with things at work, too. I’ll discover I didn’t finish something, but realize I’d only thought about doing it.

Nope, not alone–my mom once misplaced her purse and after looking everywhere, found it in the refrigerator! Apparently was putting away groceries and absentmindedly put it in with the groceries. I often think of things like that, but it is usually about stuff that should have been done or packed before leaving on a trip–and then I only start worrying about them when we are at least a half hour away from home.

totally happens to me too, you are not alone!

This is so me! I have a huge fear of losing our bank card. I would be in such trouble because my DH is against having one but you almost HAVE to in this day and age. From the comments seems we are not alone. 🙁

Not laughing at you, just with you! I think its a age thing, and the age we live in. So much more to remember and keep track of. I try to have hooks and spots where things go and take a breath when coming and going so I don’t get frazzled,, that’s when I put things down in the wrong spot. Im always loosing papers on my desk because I don’t have enough drawers for enough files so I have piles until I solve that problem… one of these days.

My thing is wondering if I unplugged everything right after I left the house. Like my curling iron. Saturday I was going to visit a friend, got down the road and couldn’t remember, so I looped back around and yes it was off and unplugged but I had to double back and make sure!

I do that too and back when we had a garage, we didn’t lock the door to the house but just put the garage door down and I would get away from home and wonder if I had put the garage door down. Thank goodness for my neighbor who was always happy to go and look and I think there was never a time that I had not put it down.

I don’t carry a purse because it’s one less thing I have to remember. I carry a very small wallet in the pocket of my britches, but I even forgot that last week. The wallet, not the britches. 🙂 I ended up in town and couldn’t do a single thing after work and just had to come back home.

I’m so glad you didn’t forget your britches! 🙂
