Nicole got a real good bite from the quilting bug! I love that girl. She finished up her Boxy Stars quilt, then she made another quilt with mostly squares, for Addie. Then she decided to make Cheddar Bow Ties. I was going to send her fabric from my stash but as you might guess, there’s no cheddar fabric in my stash.
I ordered some fabric for her and it arrived today. But, in the meantime, she couldn’t wait for the new fabric to arrive, so she started a new Boxy Stars top and she’s going to finish that before starting the Cheddar Bow Ties.
Yes, she’s the best daughter-in-law ever!
Diana in RR,TX says
yep, she’s got the bug! Now if she sticks to finishing one before she starts the next one-that would be great and unlike some of the rest of us!!!!!Only speaking for myself of course!

She’s never put on borders so she’s saving the borders til I get there. I told her we’d add the borders and then I can bring them home and quilt them and add the binding if she likes. I need to get her a walking foot for the Singer 301, since it appears I am not getting my machine back! 🙂

She had a good teacher, too! That always helps! I’d love to have you teach me!! 🙂

Oh how I love seeing younger women quilting. I am following the international quilt market on Instagram, and it pleases me no end to see a whole new generation of women working with their hands. Good job Nicole! And once she is comfortable for us to see her work, which I am sure is wonderful, I for one would love to see the quilts. 🙂

Lucky you! How fun to be able to share quilting with Nicole.
Karin Vail says
you are lucky to have a sewing DIL and I bet she thinks you are the best MIL too! I am hoping that my son’s GF will become a sewer – probably not a quilter, but one that sews at least!
JudyL says
Don’t give up. The first time I asked Nicole if she sewed, she said “Why would I?” 🙂

Judy, Nicole is lucky to have you show her how to do quilty stuff., I found you tube tutortials very helpful on how to square off a quilt, how to put on borders, etc. If I had someone that was a relative and could show me, I would not have to go onto you tube. however, I find you tube God Sent for so many things that help me when I am in a bind. Regarding, a walking foot forf singer machine, there are many online places so you can compare the price. Youl probably know this already, as you quilted for many years. In regsrd to those nasty peoople out there giving you grief about your blogging notes, just let them go out to the wildnerness. There will always be people who are nasty. I like your philospohy about ingnoring them. pat
Cathy says
I love that you have someone to share that with. She sounds like a truly wonderful DIL.
Linda says
Yeah!

You are so blessed! You obviously raised your son right ‘n proper so that he picked exactly the right daughter-in-law for you! I’m sorta jealous, to be honest …. 😉
JudyL says
I thank the Lord every day for sending Nicole as my daughter-in-law. Chad and I are close and it would have been really hard if my DIL wasn’t someone I could feel close to. I feel like Nicole is the daughter I never had.
