Yesterday, some of you may have noticed a few grumpy comments and I shared with some friends a very grumpy email. Thanks to all of you who sent your support.
I read some of the communications to Vince and we discussed why people say things the things they say and as usual . . we solved the world’s problems over dinner.
As we were cleaning up in the kitchen, Vince looked down and said “How did THAT get in there?” I had used the measuring cup while rolling oats and it was still out on the counter.
I have no idea how it got in there. Inside a plastic measuring cop. It could not have crawled up the side so it had to fall in . . but from where?
The perfect ending to the kind of day I hope I don’t have again any time soon. A snake on Monday, a scorpion in the kitchen on Tuesday. Anyone want to guess what Wednesday will bring?
The safest thing for me to do today is turn off the computer, not read any emails or any blog comments, sit with Boots and knit.

Too early for the grasshoppers :-).
JudyL says
No, they’re here already but not in massive amounts yet.
Tina in NJ says
Nothing like knitting or quilting to center you. A loving kitty doesn’t hurt, either.

There are those days! I found yesterday’s comments quite interesting. What you are doing. is no different from what a lot of us do or our parents before. Enjoy the knitting time. Your scorpion friend wanted to come in out of the rain-he wasn’t used to getting wet!!!
JudyL says
No one in this area is used to getting wet, right? Hope some of the rain found its way to your home.
Diana in RR, TX says
We ended up with about 4 inches over the past few days. We were one of the lucky ones who got .5 last week then the rest Mon. Night and Tuesday. The farmers here are happy.

Just wanted to say Good Morning! I’m here for my usual daily stop. Have a very blessed day, even though we’ve never met I like to think we’re long distance friends. You are a giving person and I appreciate what you do for your “friends.”

I know what you mean, Judy. Those people who don’t follow the rule of “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” are why I don’t have an active blog. Hang in there and keep blogging. There are a lot of us who are really interested in the things you are discussing. As for the scorpions…..they showed up this past week south of you, too. One in the kitchen. (How my 2 yo and 3 yo grandchildren walked right over it and didn’t get stung, I do not know.) The other one I found in the shower with me. I have given up knitting anything beige/brown nor doing any more quilts that have browns in them because I can’t see the scorpions on them when I get in bed. I even changed my house shoes out for light colors so I can see the scorpions on them when I put my shoes in the dark. Sadly, the grasshopper are back. They are small right now but I picked/dismembered three in the garden. It’s going to be another year of battle it seems.

People get so excited sometimes! Opinions are like children, everyone likes theirs best. Prepped or not, I so enjoy your chicken stories in addition to the quilty and knitty stuff, and I respect you for putting yourself out there. Since this is still a free country everyone can read or not read what they like and they’re entitled to their own opinions. I don’t feel they’re entitled to be nasty, although some will be, they just can’t help it. I’ve learned a thing or three, so thanks. Keep on blogging!! 🙂

Have a good day, Judy! Heaven knows you’ve earned it.
Although I am not participating in this challenge because I am currently “living arrangement challenged” (or brain dead!!!), I am thoroughly enjoying the posts and the other folks who link up. It is always good to learn new things.
Tricia says
Sorry people were so crabby to you! I think that technology makes us feel that our opinions are all-important and should be shared all of the time. We forget that people and feelings matter, too. And that is partly why you and I live in the middle of nowhere! Cats and chickens and deer are often so much easier to deal with!
Also…I found a dead spider in my UNDERWEAR the other day when I went to change into jammies. Ummm…was it dead before or after I put them on?! No bites, so I am hoping for before! Probably TMI, I know. This is life in the country, though! Now I know to shake out my shoes and my underwear before I put them on…
Hope humanity treats you better today!

Oh UGH! Scorpions again!! Wouldn’t it be nice if this was the only one? I was at a friend’s yesterday evening and as I was walking to the front door, there was a fairly good-sized gecko on the wall next to the front door. Another gal just snagged it and put it outside (I know..geckos, scorpions, no comparison). We got rain Mon. afternoon/evening and a little more last night. Speaking of Boots, don’t think I’ve seen a pix in ages!!

Spiders are showing themselves here in Oklahoma. My neighbor found several brown recluse spiders indoors and I located several black widows while cleaning up leaves. At least I now wear garden gloves whenever I clean up webby clumps of leaves and I don’t jump back a foot or two when I find them!

I was simply amazed at some of the comments yesterday. But just know, we all love you here and you’ve been an inspiration to so, so many people. Thanks for all you do!!
Ranch Wife says
I haven’t had the chance to read your posts the last few days, but my initial reaction to grumpy comments you’ve received is that life is too short to let other people’s grumpiness ruin your day. You are so kind to share your experiences and wisdom…yes, wisdom…about what works for you and those of us who admire you, appreciate you taking the time to do so.
Robin says
Hmmmm- I apparently need to spend time reading comments from time to time I guess. I always miss things.
Robin says
Ok so I went back and found the mentioned comments and agree with what Ranch Wife just said 🙂
Mary-Kay says
I don’t usually read all the comments but I have been lately. Some comments are just off the wall in being rude and nasty. I’ll be reading all the prepping comments from now on, don’t want to miss anything!
Theresa says
Well, I guess if you write something truly thought-provoking, some of those thoughts might be grumpy. But don’t stop, the rest of us are really starting to try to figure this out. I’m going to try your tip to figure out what a six month supply of TP would look like.
Judy S says
I didn’t see the grumpy comments but they are in the minority Judy. If people don’t like what you post then just move on. I think the majority of your readers look forward to your daily posts as I do. I find you very helpful in many areas….knitting, quilting and prepping. Never gave prepping much of a thought before but am now stocking my pantry (small scale) in case I can’t get out for any reason. We have had winter days of being snowbound and have endured several power outages. You just never know. Can’t hurt to be somewhat prepared. By the way, yours is one of the few blogs that I read every day. You’ve encouraged me to knit some of the patterns that you have knit and I love your chicken stories and stories about Vince.
Keep on blogging!
