Our challenge for May is to eat at home and use only what we have at home, without going to the grocery store but please share your successes and . . I’m not going to call it “failures” because it isn’t really a failure, but a learning experience . . please share with us how you do.
For breakfast, we had refrigerator oatmeal. Last night I rolled the oats and made a big jar of oatmeal. It’s so good to add chopped apples and cinnamon, or bananas and walnuts or strawberries and pecans.
For lunch, we had tuna salad in avocado halves, along with a few fresh veggies.
For dinner, we had roast beef, which was actually left over from the weekend, jalapeno rice, steamed asparagus and salad.
I hope we all did great on the first day. Please share a link to your blog post or leave a comment, sharing how your day went.

Alas, no blog post, but success! The meals for all six of us were successfully provided from home without even a thought of the grocery store. Homemade runzas and garden-fresh strawberries were the highlight of the day!

This challenge may give us all ideas for new recipes! Breakfast was cereal for everyone, lunch leftovers and for supper I made the baked sweet and sour chicken from http://www.mommysfabulousfinds.com. I cannot believe how much food 2 lazy teenage boys can eat!

If you start paying attention, it will probably scare you!

Monday success… All meals prepped with foodstuffs from the freezer and pantry…
Breakfast was juice (pantry… We buy in bulk) and coffee with a dollop of milk.
Lunch was a roast beef, swiss (both in the fridge) sandwich on whole grain bread (bread drawer)
Dinner was potato-crusted cod and green beans (freezer).
Drinks all day… Diet come from the storage shelves in the garage (also buy in bulk) and tap water…

My DH just laughs. He believes I wouldn’t have to go to the stores for several months and is constantly telling me it is time to use it up so we don’t have so much “stuff” in the pantry, freezers etc. And we have a greenhouse for fresh foods But I would like to know how you roll your oats. I’m still stocking oatmeal.

My husband is like Sharon’s! He thinks we could go months without a trip to the store. So,
I didn’t see the challenge till just now but, luckily, we did just fine. Breakfast was coco wheats, oatmeal or toast. Lunch was leftovers from the weekend. Dinner was chicken noodle soup made from stock from late last week and some freezer dinner rolls. I did, however, have one of my iced coffee drinks from the coffee shop today while running errands!! I would be so very sad if I ever had to give those up..

With the 3.5 year old grandson and 1.5 year old granddaughter here I’ve been busy! Definitely not used to two little ones around. Grandson is picky and Granddaughter is a bottomless pit.
Breakfast was homemade pancakes, milk
Lunch was wheat tortilla cheese quesadilla
Dinner was homemade pizza
Yep, this Grammi is tired!

We hardly ever eat out – if I have errands to run in a town that has a chick-fil-a I will stop and get a lemonade and Bill likes to get a sandwich and fruit smoothie when we go to Costco.
mother – toast, coffee, creamer, OJ, liverwurst sandwich on rye bread, ensure, jello, strawberry milkshake
Bill – ate all leftovers – egg casserole, stuffed salmon, spaghetti and chocolate covered peanut clusters
me – banana, pbj sandwich, chips, potatoes and chicken, popcorn, olives
We certainly don’t need to shop for at least two weeks and then only to buy some OJ and ice cream for mother’s milk shakes. So far so good!

I am not participating in this challenge as we are in the midst of a move. (There’s never a disaster when someone is moving, right?) I am following and taking mental notes.
I just started reading “One Second After” after seeing it on your blog. It is hard to put down.

We are out of town for the first three days this week but I decided to incorporate this into our trip, There is a fridge in the hotel room so we decided to do a quick grocery run and fill it instead of eating out for meals. We did have breakfast out only because we hadn’t hit the store yet. Milk, cereal, bologna, cheese, bread, juice for Zach and coffee for Eric and myself. The remaining meals will all be prepared here in the room rather than going out. This is going to be fun. Once we get home we will have only what is in the house for the remainder of this challenge. So…for today: breakfast ate out, lunch – cereal, dinner – sandwiches. Love it!

Sort of failure,, we needed to go to town for another shelving unit, bought some milk so I’m good for 1.5 weeks now. But hubby wanted a sub so I got pizza slices. We will finish those up for lunch today. Supper last night was chicken salad , making from the pantry, and asparagus from the garden.
Hugs!!!!

this comes @ a good time as we are going to be vacationing and my plan is always to eat out of the fridge the week before. breakfast… raisin toast, banana & coffee; lunch… bean and cheese quesadilla w/green onion; dinner… tacos w/all the fixins. everything from the fridge w/the exception of the venison burger from the freezer. i did try a new ‘recipe’ where you mix together a package of angelfood cake mix with any other cake mix. in a coffee cup place 3 tbsp mix, 2 tbsp water, and put it in the microwave for 1 minute. quick dessert!

This is definitely a challenge for me. Most of what I eat is fresh meat, eggs, vegetables and fruit; my HOA won’t allow me to have a garden in the front yard, or to cut the trees preventing gardening in my back yard. So if the SHTF, I will need to learn to eat and to love canned goods. It is a really good idea for me to start thinking about this, how I might combine canned or dehydrated foods into something yummy. I guess I need to make sure to add more spices and condiments to my pantry.

I cook all meals/snacks at home…have a well stocked freezer and pantry etc….so my meals were all the usual.
Yesterday I had a lot of errands to run (not food related) and by the end I was so tired I stopped and purchased a coke…then a light bulb went on. If there was a disaster in the area, not only would I not be able to stop for a coke on the way home, I probably would not have the gas to be doing any type of errands in town.
I think what you are doing brings such an awareness to the subject. I applaud you!!
