The ginger syrup is wonderful! Vince’s response when he first stated it was “It has a bite! A GOOD bite!” I’ll definitely be picking up more fresh ginger and making more of this. Since Vince loves Ginger Ale like I love Dr. Pepper, I tasted it but didn’t drink a whole glass. Such a good wife . . to save the ginger syrup for him. Once I make more, I’ll have myself a big glass of it. So far, I think I like it better than anything else I’ve tried. It does have a bite to it but it’s a bit sweet and quite refreshing.
Because we have a full, never been opened, bottle of “Dr. Pete” syrup, I decided to give it a try this morning and since I haven’t been drinking Dr. Peppers much, the Dr. Pete isn’t bad. I can drink that instead of the real thing and be happy with it.

Put some of the ginger syrup in hot water and have a nice cup of tea to warm you up. Ops, you don’t need warming, sorry. Save that thought for this coming winter.

I debated getting one of those Soda things. I sort of stopped drinking soda, but I miss the fizz. I don’t like the heavy fiz of the bottles. I like to get it at a fast food place where the fiz isn’t so strong, but still fizzy. Controlling the amount of fiz is right up my alley. Getting it without the chemicals sounds like a win win. Thanks for the book tip! They should advertise it with the soda maker and I think more folks would try it.

I have a hard time getting myself to like any of the generic Dr. Pepper products I’ve tried. I just love the real thing.

I’ve heard lots of great things about the soda stream and have been considering getting one. Hubby is a big Dr. Pepper fan so if it will save us money on that he will be its biggest fan.

Maybe you can find someone who has one and try it before buying. If he’s a tried and true DP guy, he may not like the “knock off” DP. It isn’t bad but it isn’t Dr. Pepper.

Controlling the fizz is the really nice thing about the soda stream. I usually do the lowest amount and I haven’t changed out the CO2 cartridge yet. I tried the second level, drank the liter over the course of the day and felt bloated, so back to the lowest level.
The little book suggests using agave syrup or coconut palm sugar since both have lower glycemic index numbers than regular sugar. So, it is better for people wanting to control sugar levels.
I’m going to try the cherry limeade syrup and then compare it to the Sonic version. But, many of the recipes sound great…

That’s funny. I love the fizz and put as much in there as I can get! I have the stuff to make the cherry limeade syrup too but probably won’t make it til we finish off some I’ve already made.
