First, if you’re here as part of the Quiltmaker blog tour, my post is one post below this one. You can either scroll down or click here.
For those who are here looking for the Tell it to the Stars May block, here’s you go:
As with the previous months, it will be 12″ finished/12-1/2″ unfinished. Remember that we will be making two blocks that are exactly the same.
Fabric 1: Cut 8 – 2-1/2″ squares. Set those aside.
Fabric 2: Cut 8 – 2-1/2″ squares. Set those aside.
Fabric 5: Cut 2 – 4-1/2″ squares. Set those aside.
Step 1:
Fabric 1 and Fabric 3: Using your favorite method for making half square triangles, make 16 half square triangles that are 2″ finished/2-1/2″ unfinished. I will cut 8 – 3″ squares from Fabric 1 and Fabric 3, draw a diagonal line across the back of the Fabric 1 squares, place a Fabric 1 square over a Fabric 3 square, sew a scant 1/4″ along both sides of the drawn line, cut on the drawn line, press and square up to 2-1/2″.
Step 2:
Fabric 1 and Fabric 6: Using your favorite method for making flying geese, make 8 of each of the following flying geese. They will measure 2″ x 4″ finished or 2-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ unfinished.
I would make my flying geese using the Patch Pieces method. Fabric A would be 5-1/4″ and Fabric B would be 2-7/8″ for one set and vice versa for the other set.
Step 3:
Using the pieces made above, and the plain squares cut, make four of the following units:
Step 4:
Make 8 of the following units:
Step 5:
Using the units made above, make four of the following rows:
Step 6:
Make two of the following rows:
Step 7:
Sew the rows together to make the block as shown above.
If your January through April blocks are done, please share a picture. On Monday I will draw for the winner . . who will receive a Stash Pack from Vicki Welsh’s Etsy Shop. When you need (or want) hand dyed fabric, please remember Vicki . . who sponsors this Mystery.

I feel like a copy cat, but my favorite colors are the pink, green and purple also. Would love to see a quilt done in those colors.

Hi Judy. It looks like for the flying geese you reversed the colors to have one of each color way . I didn’t catch this in the directions, just going by the photo. Am I right?
