There are bird nests everywhere. Spring is such a fun time, except the bird nests can get to be a bit bothersome.
Over the weekend, we needed to put some seedlings and our last bag of potting soil has a bird nest with baby birds in it so we had to go to Home Depot (and you know how much Vince hates to do that! NOT!)
We have painters here now painting the outside of the house. There’s a lot of trim, porches, the well house . . more painting than we wanted to do and it has not been easy to find good painters around here . . or even painters who will show up when they say they will. These guys were highly recommended and showed up when they said they would so I’m real happy with them.
This bird nest is right in the corner on the back porch! And, there are baby bids in it. You can see that the painters got close and just painted around it. If the babies have flown away before the painters are done, they’ll paint the corner. If not, we’ll paint the corner . . eventually.
The wood trim needed painting when we moved in here and we’ve been consumed by other projects but we have had several painters come out to give us estimates and then they never showed up to do the job so we’re really happy to be getting everything painted.

I had 3 little Carolina wren in my front porch pot so had to try to keep folks from coming to the front door for awhile! LOL Anyway, the babies left the nest yesterday–I happened to notice they were 3/4 out of the nest yesterday am so I watched and pretty soon one flew down to the porch and then the other two. They were SO CUTE but really left in a hurry. NOW I can put a flower in that pot!!

You know when I read “birds nests” I immediately thought of ugly thread knots on the back of a quilt! I think that’s a sign from the universe that it’s time to step AWAY from the sewing machine and take a walk outside before Spring is over and I’ve missed it!

Is that a hornet/bees nest right above the birds nest?
I love baby birds. I wish some birds would nest here! We do get a lot of chickadees, but they don’t nest in obvious places. Boo!
Yay for painting!!

Oh, we wish we had bird nest at our house! How fun.
As for the painters – it looks great. But don’t you wonder how all of those other guys (the ones that never showed up) stay in business? It’s a crazy world sometimes.
