The chicken coop is coming along, ever so slowly. It’s hard to believe we spend so much time working on it and there’s so little progress. Vince doesn’t do carpentry work very often so it isn’t second nature to him and having me as his helper isn’t very helpful. He’ll call in reinforcements maybe next weekend and see if they can get more progress made.
Yesterday we got the decking or floor done. I was a bit concerned about helping carry all the lumber but I survived it . . no splinters, no fingers smashed by a hammer. I got to use the drill to make all the holes and Vince came along behind me with the screws.
We got all the wood down for the floor but it’s just a pressed wood type plywood and with rain expected, we wanted to get the vinyl on that will be the floor covering. It can get pretty messy in there and the vinyl can be hosed down and scrubbed.
By Saturday night, the vinyl was down . . we had accomplished what we hoped to get done. Getting the glue down for the vinyl was a sticky, messy job. I hope I never have to use that stuff again and I hope the chickens appreciate all our effort!

Just curious–what do you do with all your eggs? I know you’re not getting many now but I guess you did before and will again. My niece only has like 10 chickens but she has eggs coming out her ears!! I have 3 doz. in my fridge at the moment.

Is under the coop a favorite place for snakes?

You read my mind! I was hoping for a coop update! How about the little chicks, which I am sure are getting bigger every day? When I first saw the post titled “Chicken Jambalaya” the other day, I thought maybe some misbehaving chicken had become dinner! Made me chuckle! Lesson learned – Never judge a post by its title!

What kind of vinyl is that that you laid down? Looks handy, and don’t think I have seen it before….
