Is this the third day in a row I’ve been in the sewing room? This morning I got 18 more blocks made but this afternoon I have other chores and will not be in the sewing room . . maybe til Monday.
Just like yesterday, these are just slapped up there in a somewhat organized as to color plan but no real thought has gone into it and this is definitely not the way they will end up so .. no advice on re-arranging blocks please.
So far, I haven’t cut up even half of the fabric repeat sections that I cut. At one point, I wondered if I should take all the red, brown and very dark blocks out and leave the pink, blue, tan blocks . . maybe make different tops. We know I have enough fabric to make several! Now that I see this picture, I’m thinking I like the darker blocks around the outer areas and the lighter blocks in the center. It gives it an almost luminous effect.
I will continue making blocks and maybe I’ll have time over the weekend to read through the books and then maybe some of this will come together better next week.
At this point, I really like it.

WOW – for randomly throwing them up there, I think it looks GREAT! Reminds me of a fireworks display that has so many elements to it!

I have been wanting to make one of these quilts for quite a while. After seeing yours, I followed the link and I downloaded the book last night. Already read it and selected the fabric. Thanks for the inspiration.

I agree about the luminous effect with the light blocks in the center! Lovely. I am sure you will re-arrange, but I do like the effect of lighter toward the center. As you make more blocks you can aim for that effect and maybe put darker ones on the outside edges of the quilt.

Looking good. I too like the concentration of the light in the center surounded by the fark. Nothing appears out of place as far as the colors you mentioned omitting. It all adds spice!

Beautiful, Judy! I wouldn’t tell you how to lay out your quilt, ever! I don’t think there could be a “wrong” way to lay this out…it’s going to be fabulous!

You are encouraging me to get back to a One Block Wonder + Hollow Block project that I started more than a year ago:) Love how your’s is looking. My project got set aside due to moving to Alabama and other projects. Right now I have 4 quilts with deadlines to do, but then I think I will need to get back to the One Block Wonder project. I remember that it was so much fun to see how the triangles were coming together!

I was noticing the luminous effect of the light in the middle even before I read your comments. It’s looking good “just thrown on the wall”! What would hold me up is deciding which way to put those triangles…the first day, you showed us one block in all three orientations. Spokes/stars? Circles? I’d be re-arranging, backing off, playing…
