If you think I spend a lot of time knitting, you should see how much time I spend trying to choose colors and yarns. Quilting is so much easier because we don’t have to deal with all the weights of fabrics. Yes, there are weights when choosing fabrics but nothing like all the weights when dealing with yarns and then, with yarns, there are all the contents – wool, cotton, nylon, cashmere, bamboo and all kinds of other stuff, which can affect weight and gauge and . . it’s not as easy as it may seem.
Add to that that I’m shopping online and having to trust my computer monitor to show me the correct colors. I love The Loopy Ewe for so many reasons but Sheri’s husband loves photography and he takes all the pictures of her yarn and her colors are always exact!
Yesterday I was digging through all my yarn trying to come up with a combination that would work for Kynance Cove. Even though there’s too much yarn around here, most of it was purchased for a specific project and if I have 6 skeins of a yarn for one sweater and need 4 for another, then I’m leaving myself with 2 leftover skeins so that’s not a good thing to do. I keep my yarn in bags with the pattern so I don’t end up messing up my plan and . . there is a plan . . even if I’m the only one who thinks there’s a plan!
This is the yarn I had ordered to make my Blue Sand. It looks better in the picture but in real life, the green (Maple Leaf) isn’t what I like. It’s lighter and the dark gray (Faded Parka) kinda clashes with it.
I pulled the Faded Parka and Maple Leaf out and I think those two will work together for Kynance Cove. I’m going to add Ember for the colored stripe. One skein of Ember ordered and two additional skeins of Maple Leaf needed.
That left only the Smokestack yarn remaining and I had dismantled my plan for Blue Sand.
A little shopping and comparing and I ended up adding Stovepipe:
and Night Bloom:
I think I will like these three colors for Blue Sand a whole lot better. I found a use for the yarn I didn’t want to use for Blue Sand and only had to order a few skeins to make it all work.

I love those three colors together for Blue Sand! Someday, you’re going to motivate me to start and FINISH sweaters….

I like your color choices for both sweaters, but especially love the colors you chose for the Blue Sand cardigan.

Thanks to you, I think I’ll be using some stash yarn and making the KAL, too. I really like the pattern and maybe if I have to be accountable, I’ll get another sweater done. This will be my 3rd but my first using short rows. I’m hoping I can learn it from youtube. Glad to see you are up for the challenge and found some yarn to work.
