A Little More Solar Info

Summertime Is Coming!

Some of you seem interested in the solar info we’re discovering. For your late night pleasure . . here’s a nifty website for calculating how much energy the sun in your area can produce.

Start by putting in your zip code at the top and if you want to compare your solar power production to what we get here, put in “9” for the DC system size. Ours will be roof mount but that doesn’t usually make a whole lot of difference. Here’s what we come up with:

Sun Hours

Sun Hours

With a 9 kW system, we should produce 13,417 kW per year and that’s about 100% of our energy needs.  We shall see!

I get 11,915 here in San Antonio. I used the same size system you posted. Not sure why but I was expecting more than you get.

Fascinating. A smidge over 10000 here in NW Ohio, using your system. I truly expected a LOT less, given how far north we are!

Judy, this was very interesting to me. I plugged in our zip code with your 9 size and it came up to 10,700 for our area in MO. My DH was not as interested in solar panels as much as a way to cut our heating and cooling costs, which have been unbelievable this winter. He would like a Geothermal h/c system, but it’s too costly to put into a 20+ yr old home..

I hope it supplies all your needs. That would be so cool.

Very interesting. I compared mine, yours, and where I lived in Arizona. I’m a little less here and a little more than you there, but essentially, most needs could be met in either place. That’s good to know.

Aqui no Brasil deveríamos aproveitar mais dessa energia solar,já que temos muito sol o ano inteiro.Abraços
