My last night in Missouri, and the sunset was gorgeous. Nicole and I were sitting in the living room and I saw the sunset and she said “Run out and get a picture” so I walked down the road a bit to a clearing. It’s only been a little less than 3 years that we’ve been in Texas and I’m so used to going out to take pictures without seeing buildings or signs or other people. It seemed weird trying to get a picture without the McDonald’s or Braum’s signs, and then cars were passing by me while I was out walking through tall weeds to get a good picture!
There are roofs and lights . . definitely not the same as walking out in my back yard and taking pictures but on the other hand, Chad, Nicole and Addie aren’t in Texas! 🙁
We most always had beautiful sunsets while living in Missouri and it made me smile to remember walking out from our basement so many evenings to get a glimpse of a sunset . . the end of a day.
Last night’s sunset was not only the end of the day, but the end of the visit with my family. I am already looking forward to my next trip to Missouri and with each trip . . or with the ending of each trip to see them, I think I’m one step closer to trying to convince Vince that we need to retire closer to wherever they are living. It would be hard to leave our place in Texas but dang it . . it’s hard to leave Chad, Nicole and Addie too!

What is to say they won’t move again? If you retire near them will you follow? :D. Sorry just playing devils advocate….

Making a retirement move to be near Chad’s family may not be the most practical thing to do. He could move many times, and who knows where, during his working life. Do you intend to pack up and move each time too? Then you sure do like moving better than I do! Maybe I shouldn’t even be commenting since my kids & grandkids have only ever lived an hour away? I’m sure when you get back home to your little paradise in the country you’ll decide it’s the best place to stay.

We still have a brain! 🙂 It will be probably 5 years or more before Vince retires. Chad and Nicole will probably move at least once a year for the next 5 years. If we moved back to MO, even if Chad and Nicole weren’t real close, they could make one trip “home” to see us and Nicole’s parents in one trip.
With Chad’s job, he will have the option of going or not going when there’s a transfer so I don’t worry that we’ll move to MO and he’ll move to CA. He likes MO and will stay in the MO/northern AR area I’m sure.
