It’s so hard to leave Chad, Nicole and Addie. Vince is more than ready for me to get home and I’ll be happy to sleep in my own bed but I still don’t want to leave Chad, Nicole and Addie.
Every day I’m thankful to have Nicole for a daughter-in-law. When Chad was first telling me why she’s so special, he said “Mom, she always has a smile on her face” and she truly does.
From what I see, she’s a good wife to my amazing son and she’s a good mother to my precious granddaughter. What more could I ask for? 🙂
She already knits and now, she’s learning to quilt!
The only complaint I have about her is that she fell in love with my favorite Singer 301 machine that I brought to use and I left it with her. I have another one (or two) at home and I can clean them up and fall in love with them. No, I’m not complaining at all. If she loves to quilt, I’ll probably eventually send my longarm to live with her once they get settled in a place and stop all the moving around.

you are lucky to have a daughter in law that you get a long with – so many do not have that – I son in laws not daughters in law and the relationship is totally different as they do not want to learn how to quilt LOL or go shopping or have lunch 🙂 — I hope you wait awhile on the longarm though – you surely have more quilts to make!

Wow – you are really generous. I could NEVER give up my long arm!!

You are both lucky ladies! Sharing good equipment with a newbie can only encourage her progress in quilting! In the picture of Nicole with her quilt block (expertly done!) I noticed the hexagon project in the background. She’s doing a fantastic job on that project too! The art of quilting will continue to flourish if we “old” quilters share our knowledge, equipment, and encouragement with young people–men and women alike.

Nicole sounds like such a wonderful person, a perfect wife for Chad, and wonderful mother for Addie and a great daughter-in-law. And you are a great mother-in-law for helping her learn to quilt and to knit…and to be so generous with your equipment and supplies! We should all be 1/2 as lucky.

Hi Judy, Nocole is learning from the best when it comes to quilting. I had no idea that you were taught by so many great quilters. That explains why you are so creative and prolific in your quilting designs. Nicole is doing a nice job on her quilting. It is so nice to pass on quilting to another generation. That what quilting is about, tradition, family, & love., Pat

They are truly a special little family, and they are very lucky to have you too! What fun that Nicole is starting to quilt. And, doing a nice job, by the look of it!

Nicole’s making Boxy Stars- great choice. Far better choice for a beginner than a Double Wedding Ring too.. I bet she progresses to it quickly though, the rate she is going.

Ah, but who wouldn’t fall in love with a Singer 301? It’s still my favorite piecing machine.
I love that you’re teaching her to quilt and starting her out with a machine that’ll make her want to keep going.
