On January 30, the baby chicks arrived. They looked like this.
They started out in a Rubbermaid tote in my bathroom. After about two weeks, they outgrew the tote and were moved to a black tub that we had purchased for them.
It seems like almost overnight they grew from big babies to gangly adolescent chickens. They had totally outgrown their tub. It took quite a bit of re-arranging chicken living quarters, and quite a bit of work, but the baby chicks now have a new home.
Can you believe how much they’ve grown in one month?
I didn’t get a very good picture but there are the three White Japanese Bantams. I’m sure one of them is a rooster, which is what I wanted . . someone to replace Roscoe. I’m pretty sure a second one is a rooster and the third one might be a rooster too! 🙁
I hope at least one of them will grow up be as cute and special as Roscoe was.
I hope Roscoe and Miss Hattie have been re-united in chicken heaven! I still miss them all.

They look so nice, clean, and healthy. I always have a black Rubbermaid stock tank I use to raise chicks in – it works so well. You are a GREAT chicken mom Judy!!! I’m sure Roscoe and Miss Hattie are together again!!

They do grow fast! I was thinking about Miss Hattie this morning, and I never met her in person, so I imagine you think about them all a lot.

There will never be another free-spirit like Roscoe or a determined Miss Hattie, but lets hope some of the new chicks have personalities as distinctive as theirs!
