Aside from the needle discussion, there’s been a big discussion at our house about whether this case is pink or purple. I think it’s pink, the description says “vibrant pink”. Vince says it’s purple and anyone who thinks it’s pink needs to learn their colors!
I am so convinced that interchangeable needles are the best thing that ever happened to knitting. Tomorrow I’m going to post my comparison to several brands but that post, along with all the photos, was taken before I got these Addi Click needles.
Inside the case is so neat! It has the elastic band that the needles slip through but it also staples in between to keep the needles from falling out. The writing on the needles (which indicates their size) is bold and easy to read.
In the photo below, the needle on the left is the Addi and the needle on the right is a ChiaoGoo. Hopefully you can see that the Addi isn’t quite as sharp.
The sharp needles are great for lace work but I tend to poke the needle against the side of my index finger on my right hand and have poked so many holes in my finger. With gardening season at hand, I hate having open wounds on my hands while playing in the dirt so using a not quite so sharp needle is better right now.
Also, the Addi tips are just a bit longer. Some like longer, some like shorter.
The needle on the right ends at the top of the threaded area . . that’s where it screws into the cable. The Addi, on the left, ends where the needle ends so it’s about 1/2″ longer.
Instead of screwing onto the cables, as the ChiaoGoo and HiyaHiya do, the Addi Clicks push and then turn to snap on. So far, I have not had to mess with the connection once . . in two full days of lots of knitting!
I’ve only used them a couple of days but I think they may be my favorite.
The only negative I’ve found is that they’re really shiny! The Ott light extends over my knitting area and casts a bit of a glare on the needles. I’m betting with a little use, they get less shiny or . . they may get more shiny and I have to come up with a different angle for my light.
As you’ve probably figured out by now, I really love the interchangeable needles. I never have to worry about having the right size needle or the right length cable. In my own mind, I’ve justified that having the interchangeable sets saves money!
The Loopy Ewe gets the interchangeable sets often but they go amazingly quickly. Be ready . . if you make up your mind that you want a set, be ready to hit those buttons and check out the minute you find them because they don’t last long on the website.

I agree with Vince. That is purple.

PINK it is pink 🙂 a vibrant pink, but yet a pink!! I am interested in seeing your post tomorrow on the needle comparison’s. I think I would like the interchangeable set. So far with the few circle needles I have the Addi’s seem to have the smoothest transition. I had one pair that was awful and caught at the joint every time. I threw those away…not worth the aggravation.

If the color on my screen is correct, it sure looks to be in the purple family to me. There may be pink in the color but it looks more purple-ish to me.
Linda says
I am going with orchid. I think that is supposed to be the new color or the year. Maybe it’s vibrant orchid.
Sherrill says
Yeah I know what puters do to colors but it certainly looks purple to me..(sorry Judy). LOL
glen in louisiana says
purple. definitely purple. Italians have to stick together!
Sue K says
How about lavender? Definitely NOT pink!

In the picture I’d say it looks purple. Of course since purple is my favorite color I lean toward seeing purple even when it isn’t. In person it may very well be pink! Is that diplomatic enough? I have the knitpick interchangeable needles and I have a terrible time with them coming untwisted. I may have to bite the bullet and get addi’s. I’m thinking the snap in place may make them less annoying to me. I utter some pretty bad things when the needle separates from the cable…

The case looks purple to me in the picture. A pinkish purple, but purple nonetheless. I have the Boye interchangeables, which I bought years ago at a 50% off sale. I use them constantly, and have even added extra cables and needle tips over the years. The Addi click-on system is something I would like to try, though, if it doesn’t come apart as easily.

I’ve been eyeing these for a while. It’s good to hear from a trustworthy source they are good. If the package says pink, then who am I to argue? But I have to say the picture looks purple. But I take your word for it, and the package description – pink it is!
Linda says
I have the knit picks and love them. I do not have any trouble with them unscrewing if I use the little key thing to tighten them.
Nancy says
I know that computer screens vary, but on MY screen the color is definitely Fuchsia! Which is a bright pink.
QuilterBea says
It’s pink with purple undertones but lots more pink than purple.
Vicky says
Don’t know anything about knitting needles, but I know purple when I see it – and that’s purple! You rock, Vince!
Jackie says
I’m with you Judy – it’s pink! I agree with Nancy who further clarifies Fuschia. It does have a tinge of purple in it but pink is the predominant color IMO. Vince is feeling spunky, huh? Not many men would go toe to toe over a color name!
I have the other two sets of Addi Clicks. The ones that come in the black (regular) and the brown(original lace) cases. I love them and there is no arguing that they are beautifully packaged! Mine came from Dharma Trading Company who has the best prices I’ve seen. I’ve not had any issues whatsoever with my cords and I love how easy they are to click in.
Linda says
I love interchangeable needles too. I have a set I think I got from Knitpicks. I don’t think they’re rainbow wood, and I know they’re not Caspian, but I love them. Metal needles are a little too slippery for me.

The Pantone colour of the year is Radiant Orchid. I think your photo looks pretty much in that colour range. How trendy are you? http://thewindyside.blogspot.co.nz/p/2014-pantone-quilt-challenge-radiant.html

I see purple on my computer screen. A beautiful color of purple too I might add. I’d buy those needles just because of the purple case. I’ve been looking to invest in a set of ciruclars, so I’m looking forward to your discussion. I agree with Glen, Italians have to stick together — purple it is.
Anita says
My computer says the case is pink. I’ve had my Addi Clicks for 6 or 7 years now. I love them. I use the a lot. I also use the Knitter’s Pride Dreamz fixed circulars and I really like them also. Mine haven’t become less shiny so I think you may want to adjust you light a bit.
Amy (Waunaknit) says
Sorry but I have to go with purple too. I just bought the Chiagoo small interchangeables in December and love them. Although I could definitely see buying the Addi interchangeables too (since the majority of my single circ needles are Addis).
Debbie Boyett says
Addis are definitely my favorite. I too like the lace needle but Addi’s lace are gold in color and not quite as slick. However, they now make Sock Rockts which are lace tip shape but with the slick silver finish and they are fabulous. The distributor of Addi is in my neck of the woods and have a retail store that is very hard to stay away from. You can buy the tips by the pair instead of the set and you can buy the cables seperately as well. They even have regular circulars in 60″ length – just about every combination you can imagine. Oh, and they have yarn too! They just started sock club last month…they will be bringing in local yarn dyers for group time. They are called Makers Mercantile. Check them out….

I say it’s fuchsia!
