For the time being, the pantry was the last of the home improvement projects for a while. The family room/kitchen area still needs to be painted and the kitchen ceiling needs to be painted. I would like to put pressed tin or beaded board on the kitchen ceiling .. something I can scrub, but I’ll wait a while before mentioning that to Vince.
Remember that I terribly dislike having things sitting on the kitchen counters. Everything had found a new home except the coffee pot and I came up with the idea to put it into the pantry. We ordered a drawer that had rollers on the bottom, but instead, we got a drawer that had rollers on the side so Vince had to do a little carpentry work to get it installed. He did it last week but it was yesterday before I was able to get in there and work on getting everything organized.
Do you think the bottom of the pantry was just a bit of a mess?
Even Speck was able to help himself to dog food when the pantry door was open and since things were so crammed in there, it was hard to close the door tight and half the time, it wasn’t shut good and he would manage to open it and eat way too much.
This was the little area where there were two electric plugs, one on the back wall and one on the side wall. Vince took the one from the side wall and moved it into the pantry so his coffee pot could be plugged in inside the pantry.
The containers on the floor have:
- Rice and Grains
- Tea, Gelatin and Pectin
- Nuts
- Dried Fruit
- Jar Lids
- Sprouting Seeds
There’s room for two more containers on each side so I ordered more.
Now Vince’s coffee pot sits on the roll out drawer, along with the coffee, the cups, the honey.
The drawer slides out, it’s the same height as the countertop so it’s really pretty convenient. He’s happy with the new location and I’m happy to have everything off the countertop!

Looks good! I spent a week during the snow storms we had doing a complete overhaul of our pantry. It feels WONDERFUL to go in there now and find exactly what you want and to also SEE what it is you need to replenish. Not fun while doing it but a good project to complete.

Do you have problems with the humidity in the pantry when the coffee’s done? I think I remember you saying you’ll leave the door open, and shelf out, while brewing but what about the heat and humidity after the brew? Do you have to leave the shelf out for an hour or so till it’s cooled off and everything? Reason I ask is because I tried to talk my husband into putting the coffee maker somewhere else because I only have about 12′ of linear countertops and all the appliances take up WAY too much space. But we both worried about putting it in a cabinet…

I’ll write a blog post explaining about the coffee maker. Ours is a bit different from a typical coffee pot.

I love your pantry make over. That pull out shelf looks awasome. I can see many uses for those.

That looks really nice! I won’t send or post pictures of my pantry for fear of scaring you. 🙂 Love the drawer on rollers!

It looks really great, but poor Speck. Now he can’t help himself to the dog food…
JudyL says
Oh, don’t feel bad for Speck! He is supposed to only eat canned special food for his pancreatitis. The dry dog food . . we give him one little morsel as a treat when he comes in from going to do his business outside. We started that when he was a puppy and it has continued for almost 14 years. He thinks he’s eating a bag full of treats but it’s really dry dog food. 🙂

WOW, that really looks GREAT!! I got some of those rev-a-shelves and has helped the organization tremendously!! Don’t drink coffee so don’t have to worry about that. 😉

That sounds so satisfying. Happy for you. I am of the mind to put my pantry in totes and take a sledge hammer in there. My pantry is about 6′ x 12 and we used it when we were struggling with low work conditions and raising a family, but we don’t need it anymore and ready to see it gone.

The pantry looks really nice! We keep our Tassimo coffee maker right near the sink. I’m not sure I would want to walk with water to fill the coffee maker—otherwise it’s a great idea! Great organization!
Judy Laquidara says
The Zoji is really easy to fill. We fill the carafe and then pour that water into the huge opening at the lid so there’s never a drop spilled and . . if there is, it’s just water on a tile floor.

Looking good! Are you sure you don’t want to make a trip to Round Rock in a few weeks and organize my kitchen for me?
