Two weeks ago, the baby chicks arrived. They were placed in a Rubbermaid tub and lived in my bathroom under a heat lamp. They were so cute! Their little chirps were melodious. They ran around in their Rubbermaid box. Vince and I would sit on the side of the bath tub and watch them and talk about how cute they were . . and our plans for their future.
Two weeks later . . they chirp all night. They squawk at each other. They fly into the side of the tub. They flap their wings and dust goes everywhere .. and they were beginning to stink!
Tuesday night was the last of our really cold nights. I asked Vince if he would get their new, larger tub set up in the shop so we could move them yesterday. He said he would do it at lunch.
When I got up yesterday morning, I looked at those chickens and said .. no more! I set up the heat lamps and got their new tub nice and warm and hauled their fluffy little butts over to the shop.
See how much they’ve grown! I think all three of the bantams are going to be roosters. I was hoping for one, maybe two . . I doubt we can keep all three of them but we’ll see. Because of their size, they may be ok with 10 hens but we’ll just have to see how it all shakes out.
They have lots more room in their new tub and hopefully, they can grow in this tub until time to move them into the coop.
The best news is .. I have my bathroom back without 13 chickens squawking at me!

Love all the chick pictures! Will the 2 types of chicks live together as adults since they grew up together. Will any of the red ones be roosters?

All babies of all kinds grow up too fast.

Oh how cute!!! We went to see “my ” chickens last weekend. (My friend is moving and wanted them to go to a good home — so I bought them.) It’s still way to cold to move them. Hopefully they will move to our house in late March. I just can’t wait!!! For now I get to watch yours. Thanks for always posting pics of them. I LOVE them!
