Yesterday I had a great fire going by the time Vince got home. It was warm with lots of coals. He came in and said “I have a big log to put on so don’t add any more wood. When it all burns down, I’ll bring my big log in.” I was thinking this wasn’t going to end well.
Sure enough, he had a Paul Bunyan size log that he brought in.
I poked and prodded and even managed to stick some smaller pieces of wood under it but all to no avail. I could not get that big log to burn.
This is what I found in the fireplace this morning when I got up.
It’s a little charred on the outside but it’s still a big honking log. I’ll clean up the ash and stick some smaller logs under it again and maybe with the gas lighter, I can get it going. If not, I guess I won’t have a fire today! 🙂

Judy,, don’t fall for his trick. He’s setting you up for buying that bobcat log splitter you tagged on facebook. —deb

But won’t you freeze without a fire?

We do have central heat (gas), which I like a whole lot better than I like electric heat but my preference is free wood heat! 🙂

LOL You can’t put a big log on when the fire ‘burns down,’ as I guess Vince found out. You’ve gotta have a major conflagration going to burn it up! ;D
