There’s no telling what I would find in the sewing room if I were to dig through everything.
Yesterday while in the sewing room, one of my projects was to work on blocks for the February Scrappy Challenge. At some point, years ago, I cut up some of my scraps into squares. They were all placed in plastic boxes and put . . where? I do not know! Some sizes I have found and some sizes I have not found so I began digging, hoping to find the box of 2″ squares. The 2″ squares are still hiding but I found some interesting things:
I vaguely remember buying these quite a few years ago but have no idea why they were packed with my sewing stuff.
These are the kinds of things that get lost in a move, no matter how careful the movers are with them. Two shelves in the bookcases in my sewing room had never been put up because I didn’t have pegs. For two years I’ve kept forgetting to put them on my shopping list and only think of them as I’m stepping over books on the floor. Now the shelves are all up and the books are on the shelves. The really weird thing is that I had three bookcases in my sewing room in MO and now I only have two and we cannot find the third bookcase. I can see losing cannoli forms or shelf pegs but a whole bookcase . . I can’t see how we can’t find that. It has to be in Vince’s shop behind boxes. We must find that bookcase.
I can understand how yarn got packed in the sewing boxes but I have no idea what the plan was for either of these yarns. That isn’t such a big deal because there’s lots of yarn that I have no idea what it’s for.
All the Pick a Pinwheel blocks! Only 5 of them were finished but the centers are made for all 20 blocks and all the half square triangles and flying geese are already made so it won’t take too long to get this project finished . . if I stick with it.
I was thinking this was a pattern for a Quilt Along from early last year but it was from 2012. How time flies!
It will get finished!

I lose track of lots of different things among my sewing ‘mess’, fabric, baggies full of scraps, UFOs, random templates, but never anythng like cannoli forms! That’s a first! Whatever happened to ‘like things together’?

Oh boy I know the feeling! I ‘lost’ a package of assorted triangle paper and a quilt top that was in progress, and even after I ‘cleaned’ on New Years Day they’re still lost. Thus the quotes around cleaned, ha ha! 🙂

I feel the same way since we moved almost 8 years ago. I still can’t find some things I want, but have come across all kinds of “buried treasure” while looking. I know it would help if I just cleaned out ALL of the boxes, but what fun would that be?

A Dymo Label maker is one of the best investments I have made. I label everything in my sewing room now—-and everything that is in what I have labeled the ‘”notions” drawer I have written in a notebook, otherwise I dig around in that drawer looking for something that isn’t even there!

i read the blog on my phone so the pictures are small and i have to scroll often. before i sae the caption “cannoli forms” i thot they were tube turners! after our move 9 years ago, i still have a few missing things, and i’ve misplaced seveal things since then. all of my long cutting rulers were put in a very good storage place, but i sure can’t remember where that was!

I love the odd things that turn up while looking for some missing thing! That feeling of “Oh, here you are!” is so special. I have been going through my stuff looking for my crochet hooks-I know they are here somewhere! But, I keep getting distracted by my “finds” that I end up playing with those and going back later to search for more treasure…er, the crochet hooks! Someday they will show up and by then I will be out of the mood to crochet!
