What a difference soaking and blocking makes in a knitted piece. There was a question or two in yesterday’s post about blocking. Most of the sweater yarn has to be, or works better if hand washed and dried flat so blocking after each washing required. I don’t used blocking wires on the sweaters so it’s really only a matter of pulling or pushing to get it the exact shape I want and letting it dry in that position. Yesterday I soaked Brier Island in the early afternoon, squeezed the excess water out by rolling it in a beach towel and stepping on it, then I blocked it on the mats on top of an extra bed and turned the ceiling fan on. Before I went to bed, I flipped it over so the back side was exposed and by this morning, it was dry.

The pattern, which has not been released yet, is Brier Island by Laura Aylor. The yarn is Miss Babs Heartland Worsted, color is Cloak.
The sweater has a color that doesn’t feel like a collar around your neck and I love the pouch pocket in front.
This is the second Laura Aylor sweater pattern I’ve done and they’ve been been easy to follow, instructions and diagrams were clear and I highly recommend her patterns to anyone . . even an inexperienced sweater knitter like myself was able to figure them out.
