Miss Hattie makes me re-think my feeling about chickens not being very smart. I know she isn’t smart but she is a funny chicken and she has lots of personality. One of the funniest things is that any time during the day, she will walk up to me and let me pet her but if she thinks I’m going to pick her up, she’ll usually scoot away. But, as it begins to get dark, she wants back in the coop and when I go out, she will almost fly up into my arms. She will stop right at my feet and wait for me to pick her up.
She knows that when the door opens, one of us is coming out and she’ll come flying or running as fast as she can.
The problem with her is that she follows us around like a puppy would. We stop too quickly and she runs right into us. We go in a door . . in the house or in the shop . . and she thinks she’s coming in too.
If one of us is outside, Miss Hattie isn’t far from us.
Last weekend Vince was out working and he said “Is there any way to stop her from following me around?” Nope . . not that I know of. She loves us!
She is definitely my favorite chicken!

Did she never grow feathers back from that attack form Mean Chicken?

We have a hen like Miss Hattie too! Her name is Jeanette! She comes running to us all the time and we love her to pieces! We have 14 hens and get 10-14 delicious eggs a day. What fun!

That is because you are such good chicken parents! And re-the above post, you do what you have to do. BREATH. We’ll be waiting when you are ‘sorted’ out and smiling.

Reminds me of a calf Mom raised on the bottle. Would come right up to her wanting some attention
