This is the test knit sweater that I did for Laura Aylor. I haven’t lost the 30 pounds that I wanted to lose before taking a picture but . . I figured Laura needed a photo something within the next 5 years so . . here it is.
And one more view . . I was trying to show the cables on the sleeves . . I was not flexing my muscles.
I love this sweater so much. For the past 3 or 4 days, I try it on every morning .. I’m chomping at the bit to get to go somewhere so I can wear it but will wait til all the ice is gone.
I will be sure to let you all know when the sweater pattern is available. I will tell you the following:
- It’s a quick knit. It took me about 2 weeks and I knitted two pairs of mittens during that time (and did a few other things besides knit).
- It’s top down.
- There are no seams!
- The instructions are quite easy . . it was my first sweater and I had no problems.
- There’s very little counting. It was no problem to sit and knit while watching TV or carrying on a conversation.
The pattern has long sleeves but I made my sleeves shorter because I don’t like long sleeves!
I love everything about this sweater .. I just don’t love that I need to lose at least 30 pounds! 🙁

Aha!! Top down, that explains how you could add to the bottom. It’s a gorgeous sweater and it looks great on you! I look forward to hearing when the rest of us can get the pattern. I especially love that there are no seams! Sadly, while I enjoy the knitting, I stress the seams.

I agree. The sweater looks wonderful, and the color is fantastic on you! I really like the little cable twists. They’re so fun!

The longer length is great and the sweater is very flattering. I also prefer 3/4 length sleeves, but either way this is a wonderful sweater.

I’m not much on settling for less than my personal best and with 30 pounds to lose, I don’t feel I’m at my best, and it isn’t good for my health so no, I’m not going to “bag” the weight problem!
LINDA says
Ditto with all the above.
Looking forward to the pattern, and NO seams makes it even better.

Beautiful sweater! It looks really great on you. I’m not ready for sweaters yet – I’m just finishing my second set of mittens and I haven’t tried socks yet. But looking at the fun knitting pictures you post gives me motivation!

I would love to try to make this sweater. I hope it is easy enough for a beginner. I will try it anyway. I’m glad the pattern has long sleeves though. The 3/4 sleeves drive me crazy. All your knitting post have got me started. Only a simple scarf done so far though. Eventually, socks!
Karen says
It’s very nice! Congratulations on completing your first sweater. The looks great on you.

Hi Judy,
Can’t believe that’s your first sweater! It’s beautiful and flattering!
I’ll look forward to the published pattern.
Thanks, Joanna

I love the sweater and the color on you. You are such an inspiration. You are the reason I wanted to make socks and now I have taught a friend and she is on her third pair. She was as excited as I was.

The sweater is beautiful and you look great in it. We always thing we need to lose weight, but you know that the camera adds at least 10 pounds. Very nice job on the sweater. The color suits you too!

Judy, the sweater is beautiful and you look wonderful in it! I have to agree with the others who say you don’t look to me like you need to lose weight. The color is gorgeous on you, as is the sweater and I’m wishing more than ever that I knew how to knit! 🙂
Nancy says
It is beautiful…the fit, the style, and the color. I might even try to knit when the pattern is ready.
You give me hope! Thanks

What a marvelous picture!!! The sweater is beautiful too!!!

It is lovely! Sounds like it will be a best selling pattern when it is available! You know, 3/4 length sleeves were very popular in the Atlantic Maritimes years ago because the women worked in the fish factories and didn’t want cuffs on clothing getting all yucky. So, if you ever see an old wool sweater that you think is for very cold weather and then wonder why it has 3/4 sleeves – that is probably the reason! Cheers! Evelyn

You and your sweater look fabulous! I’ve been apprehensive about making a sweater for myself but this sounds like I could handle it. I’ve made baby sweaters but nothing adult size. Can’t wait for the pattern. And BTW I love your blog and look forward to reading it every day.
