This is the test knit I did for Laura Aylor and once the pattern is ready for purchase, I’ll let you know.
Getting a good photo inside is almost impossible so I hauled the dress form out on the porch but since the temp was still 22º, I was not feeling real creative about getting the picture. I think between the two of them, you can get an idea of the sweater.
There are cables at the waist and near the end of the sleeves. I did modify the sleeves to make them shorter . . they end just below my elbow where the pattern is written for long sleeves. I can’t stand for sleeves to stick out from under jackets and I’m almost always pushing up or rolling up my sleeves. The pattern is very well written and easy to figure out .. even for a new sweater knitter like me.
The yarn is Miss Babs Heartland Worsted. I can’t tell you how much I love this yarn! It’s tightly twisted enough that I didn’t have any splitting, even when using pointy lace needles. The yarn is springy and soft . . I just love it. I also love that I got just a little bit of pooling .. just enough to make me remember how much I love pooling .. it makes me smile every time I see it.
Now . . where’s my next project?

Judy, it is a masterpiece! Just beautiful. The color is just awesome. It is cold enough here in So CA for sweaters and jackets. Wish I had one that pretty to wear!

I do like the color and the pattern, but I especially like those cables at the waist! Interesting neckline .. would like to see how that actually looks on.

Very pretty! We have lots of ice/snow/extreme temperatures up here in ND, too.

Do like that pattern. The cables at the waist are an interesting way to get some fit! Yes, do let us know when it is available. One that looks like it would be fun to knit. For your first sweater you did a great job. But then I knew you would!

Congratulations on the finish of your 1st sweater. I love the color and the design. Enjoy it! I once started to knit a sweater but never finished it and now I no longer knit. However, after reading about everything you are doing, I am beginning to think I should try again. We’ll see …

I love the neckline and what a great way to get waist shaping with the cables. I’m the same way with sleeves 3/4 length are my favorites – and that color is gorgeous.

Love the sweater. Congrats. I am trying to teach myself to knit. I have wanted to learn for a long time. I learned how to crochet from my grandmother when I was about 7 or 8 and I mostly crochet with thread. Doilies mostly because that is what my grandmother taught me on. I thought I would find some one to teach me to knit but, I haven’t. So, I am trying to teach myself partly because your blog is inspiring. I think that I would like to learn to knit socks someday. So far I am on my second practice swatch. I think there are probably many practice swatches in my future. I quilt too. My husband says in a joking way ” that is just what you need another hobby”. Thanks so much for sharing your knitting and quilting with us and your stories of your life. You almost always make me smile.
