My very first sweater is nearing completion. This is a test knit for Laura Aylor. Even though I’ve never done a sweater before, I’m finding it easy and relaxing. I’m using size 7 needles so it goes quickly and isn’t too stressful on my hands. The more socks I knit, the more I find those tiny needles cause my hands to cramp.
The yarn is Miss Babs Heartland Worsted and it could be one of my favorite yarns that I’ve used. It’s springy and soft, is tightly wound enough and isn’t splitty at all.
I wanted to get at least one sleeve done so I could see where the waist needs to be and how long to make the sweater. Sometimes adding the sleeves seems to hike the sweater up a bit and raise the waistline.
In fact I like this design so much, I’m going to make another one! I’ll post a picture of the finished sweater soon . . hopefullyl this week, and I’ll post when the pattern is available.

Well I am still trying to get my first pair of socks done. I broke down and took a class from Apple Yarns. I’m using size 5 needles so it isn’t to bad. Figure I would start plain and simple and then after I get the hang of it…I’ll try more patterns. I will be doing the heel this week, which is where I have stopped every time when I tried it on my own :(. That sweater looks really cool! Or maybe I should say hot, lol. I have trouble with sweaters because I am tall. I end up with guys sweaters so the arms are long enough and the length is there. I would like to knit one in girly colors 🙂 I’ll be watching for the pattern info. Good Job!!!

Love the sweater Judy, and love the yarn color. I took my Zombie Games and some quilts to share w/family in Dallas. My daughter-in-law was crazy about the yarn and excited about knitting. Right away she wanted to see “how to do that.” Within the hour she had located the closest yarn shop on her I-phone. I encouraged her to check it out for classes and more beautiful yarn. I told her the difference between continental and English knitting to make sure she can learn like I knit – she thought that looked easier than the yarn throwing thing. So we may have a convert – just because you and Denise have chatted up knitting, and Ms. Babs yarn of course.

It is looking FABULOUS! I can’t believe how fast you’re getting it done! I hope you’ll show a photo of you wearing it. It’s going to look so good!

It is funny how you said that the small needles were making your hands cramp. I just finished a scarf that required large needles, size 13, and my hands were cramping from that. I will be so glad to get back to smaller needles. I am so amazed at how fast the sweater is going. It looks really good.
