Back to Square One – December

This is our last month for Back to Square One.  Thank you all for trusting me to follow along, not knowing where we were headed, but believing enough in me and my instructions to trust that you’ll get all the clues and the instructions will be accurate and easy enough to follow.  Thanks to Vicki Welsh, not only for sponsoring this project through her Etsy shop, but for the encouragement and support she provides to so many of us.

Don’t forget – Tell it to the Stars begins on January 1. Click on the button on the right sidebar for details and copy the code from below the second button to add it to your own blog. This is another collaboration with Vicki Welsh but you’ll get all the details when you click on the button.

For the final steps, it’s just borders!

My borders are cut across the width of the fabric, the ends are trimmed at a 45 degree angle and then the strips are sewn together and I press my seams open. All measurements are for the cut size (width and length).

Border #7 is cut from Fabric 6.  The sides, which are added first, should be 2″ x 80-1/2″.  The top and bottom borders should be 2″ x 83-1/2″.

Border #8 is cut from Fabric 2.  The sides should be 5″ x 83-1/2″. The to and bottom borders should be 5″ x 92-1/2″

The top, with all borders, should measure 92-1/2″ x 92-1/2″. You are done!!

If you’re up to date through the November clue, please share a picture.  On Wednesday I will draw for the winner . . who will receive a Stash Pack from Vicki Welsh’s Etsy Shop.  When you need (or want) hand dyed fabric, please remember Vicki . . who sponsors this Mystery.

Do you love your new quilt top?  I sure hope so!

Thank you for such a fun mystery. I’m still working on October’s clues, but I love the quilt so far.

Thanks so much Judy for all your time with the Quilt Along’s and BOM’s that you do for us. I for one love them and have learned a lot. Can’t wait for “Tell it to the Star’s” to start 🙂 Oh & Shirley I too posted my quilt and it says it’s linked but it’s not showing either…so I’m in your predicament…they are in lala land. Maybe tomorrow we’ll see them?

Should border #7 be cut from fabric 6 rather than fabric 5?

I would advise to use which ever one looks best on your quilt! I will check mine when I get that far!

Thank you, Judy and Vicki, for the great quilt design! I have enjoyed the simplicity of it and am not too far behind (had shoulder surgery end of October!) and can get it done now by the end of the year! I have been working on 3 long term projects and a BOM (which has gotten left behind for the moment) and should be able to get 2 of them to the top completed stage now! Looking forward to Tell it to the Stars and am trying to fit in “Fit for a Hero” before March! again, thank you for such wonderful patterns!

What a great mystery! I couldn’t wait to finish it so spent the afternoon doing just that. I had NO border fabric left. I cut it so close. Thanks so much for the pattern.

Judy, the quilt is beautiful. I didn’t do this and regret it so much. I have already signed up for Vickys fabrics for next years mystery. I am so looking forward to starting.

(did that sound bad? I just hadn’t planned on it because I don’t get much sewing time these days… and I’m doing another huge BOM…)

    🙂
