The first pair of mitts is finished and the second pair is halfway finished.
This pattern, Susie Roger’s Fingerless Mitts, is so simple. After making the first pair, I have the pattern memorized. A pair of mitts can easily be made in one day if you’re knitting all day. . but takes me 2 – 3 hours to knit one mitt. They use about 200 yards of DK weight yarn but it’s easy to adjust the pattern to use Sport weight.
The mitt on the left hasn’t been hemmed and it’s made for a size large where the finished pair was made for a size medium.
This is a pattern I had wanted to make for ages and I guess I was afraid of the thumb, or maybe it was that little bit of lace but really, these are so simple, but yet they’re pretty. If you’re a knitter and need a few quick Christmas gifts, I highly recommend this pattern.

I was just looking online for the Cascade Cloud and can only find it on Jimmy Beans website they have it listed as worsted weight. Do you think it could be the same. Is DK considered a worsted weight? I still haven’t got this weight thing completely settled in my brain.

My understanding is that Dk is a bit finer… 20 stitches over 4 inches, worsted is 16-18 stitches. Good luck’

Fingerless mitts are perfect for Texas winters. That looks like a cute pattern. I made lots of them when I lived there for me and all of my friends.

I love these! I immediately went to Ravelry and downloaded the pattern and it was free. How great is that? I just happen to have an extra skein of Alpaca Light left over from my 1st sweater and was whining to have a full unused skein that is already balled so I couldn’t take it back. Now I’m happy all over.

HOW FUNNY! This is the pattern that I am awaiting the yarn for! So in the meantime, I found some knitpicks sock yarn and started a practice run and have the first mitt almost done (I did an experimental hem stitch on this one, will see how it looks). So my yarn for the gift should arrive today and I just found out the recipient is allergic to wool!!!~!!!~!!!!!

I received a pair of fingerless mitts for Christmas last year that have a flap to cover the fingers like mittens too. Great idea for next year! No time this Christmas and I’ve already decided what my Daughters are getting.
