Vicki Welsh and I have made the final revisions to our project for 2014. Of course, I love it and I hope you will too.
If you haven’t kept up with the 2013 project, you can click on this link and find the November installment which shows almost the whole top, and you will see the progress of those who have kept up.
For anyone who has joined us since the end of 2012, here’s a little recap on how our 2013 project worked and 2014 will be very similar, with one little added feature.
- The project will be a mystery in that you will not know what your finished quilt is going to look like. If you know my work and are familiar with my designs, you will not be terribly surprised. It’s pretty typical of my work.
- There is a pieced border. It’s a border than I came up with probably five years ago and have struggled to create the perfect center for this border and this is it!
- The quilt is definitvely not hard. It’s totally traditional piecing. If you are comfortable making half square triangles and quarter square triangles, it will be a piece of cake.
- Yardage requirements will be provided so that you can use stash fabric or buy fabric but once again, Vicki will be offering her beautiful hand dyed kits. You can see Vicki’s fabrics (not this kit yet) at her etsy shop. Those who ordered her kits for last year’s projects have raved about her fabric. My 2014 project is being made from one of Vicki’s kits and I can’t wait to get started on it.
- There is a bit of “shading” in the new project and Vicki’s hand dyed fabrics will really make this project shine!
- Next week, hopefully, we will announce final details and Vicki will begin taking orders for the fabric kits.
Please note: Vicki will take orders for the kits for a brief period. Then she will dye the fabric to order so you must be ready to place your order for her kits during the open order period. Once the kits are ordered and dyed, she will not be dying any more of them.
Lastly, there will be a button in next week’s post that you can grab and place on your blog. I will post the button and the code in my sidebar, just like Back to Square One, and you will be able to click on that button at any time to get back to the main page for the new project.
Ready . . set . . we will begin on January 1.

I can’t wait. I didn’t find your blog until this Summer and instantly fell in love with Back to Square One and the fabric. I’m not going to miss out on this one.
