Vince and I get along great and we love each other dearly so please, don’t anyone think I’m not happy for every minute we have together but . . I get nothing done when he’s home. He took off today. You know that I love staying home and would never leave the house if I had my way. Vince . . he would spend all day every day running the roads.
Vince’s plans for today included:
- chipping cedar for mulch for the garden
- cutting the grass
- working on the front irrigation system
- unpacking boxes and organizing the shop
Not a single thing on his list got done! 🙁
After breakfast he took the RTV out in the woods to gather some dried cedar that had been cut a while back. I was in the garden working. After just a few minutes, he drove up and said “I’m going to have to run to town.” I said “OK” and kept working. In a few minutes, he came out and said “Are you ready to go?” Huh? I’m going too? Then he said “We may have to go to Comanche” which told me we were leaving for the day.
First stop was the hardware store to get parts for the chain saw. I know how much he loves to shop so I took along knitting and sat in the car and knitted.
He came out to the car after about half an hour and said “I may buy a new chain saw.” OK . . fine with me. He said “Are you bored?” Nope, I’m listening to the radio and knitting. I could sit here all day! He ended up not buying a chain saw and got all the parts he needed so we didn’t have to go to Comanche. Yay!
There’s a little grocery store/gas stop in Zephyr, a little town a few miles from here. Bryan, my favorite local radio guy, is always talking about the food at Diamond R. We had been there once with a big group when we first got here but hadn’t been back. Vince came out of the hardware store and said he wished there was a place to get catfish and I suggested Diamond R.
I couldn’t eat all the fish. It’s served with coleslaw, pinto beans, fries, hush puppies and corn fritters. Vince loves the corn fritters . . I won’t even tell you what he said about them . . how much he loves them . . you can probably imagine!
We made a few more stops, got home and I went out and finished my chores in the garden. Now I’m ready to settle into my recliner and knit for the rest of the evening.

Judy, you are so funny and the two of you together just make it twice the fun. I love Vince’s days off . . . You both seem to survive them well.

Love your escapades.

Y’all sound just like me & hubby. I could stay home and never leave but he always drags me out to here and there. I’m very content just to be at home and not be bothered going shopping… except maybe on the internet!

when we lived overseas Galen traveled quite a lot the last 5 years. it got to be pretty funny when he would be around for more than 10 days at a time. and yes he would still he going to work but he was home more often. by the time 2 weeks had come and gone it was time for one of us to take a trip! wasn’t that we weren’t happy together but it was a different routine than we had gotten used too! we would laugh about it and he usually had a trip scheduled.

Boy, do I hear you! I get the “Are you ready to go” thing, too! Just as I was settling into a day of sewing or whatever … … A trip to town once per week would suffice for me!

Judy, it looks like you have lost weight! The fish looks interesting, and makes me wish for some fish and chips at the seaside.
