My husband really deserves an award for his bargain shopping abilities.
Yesterday we went to Home Depot to look at kitchen sinks and faucets. I wanted to pass through the garden area and look for some spearmint plants. I’m tired of buying half dead looking mint in the grocery store for my mojitos! 🙂 Yes, they had spearmint plants at Home Depot and I believe that’s the only place in town that has them. As we were wandering through the garden area towards the kitchen area, Vince came across one heck of a bargain.
My garden isn’t far from the shop but sometimes when I’m out there working and I’m so blasted tired when I’m coming in, my tools don’t always make their way back to the shop. Or, I’ll have a container of fertilizer that I’m using and I plan to go right back out there after dinner and finish up and I never make it back out there and the fertilizer gets left out and every now and then it rains . . but only if I’ve left something out that shouldn’t get wet!
Vince has been saying “you need a little garden shed out here” and I say . . I’m not a shed builder. YOU can build me a little shed.
So, while he was looking at everything in the store, he saw this:
Regular $259.00 for $65.03. Why the three cents? I don’t know . . but can you believe it . . down from $259 to $65. It was almost 75% off! That is an amazing bargain and it’s something we can actually use! It’s an outside horizontal storage shed.
The inside will look like this:
Well, mine may never look like that but it has the potential to look like that.
The finished measurements will be 56″ wide x 31″ deep by 50″ tall. We have a set of hard plastic shelves that Vince bought for almost nothing on sale at Big Lots so we’ll put that in there.
I’m happy because I desperately needed this thing. Vince is happy because he got a deal. Home Depot is probably happy to get rid of it. I’m not usually real impressed with Vince’s bargain shopping but this deal has me smiling!

I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you – but be careful with the mint – it goes crazy! And loves to take over any other plants it is near – and very hard to dig up!

Not at my house. It’s only growing in pots on the concrete porch. It will be a miracle if it escapes and actually, it isn’t terribly invasive here because of the drought. Believe it or not . . I planted it in the ground and it died. Didn’t think you could kill mint but I did.

Wow, great idea. I wanted one of those before my back went out–I miss gardening. I think Martha Stewart had a good idea for storing garden tools when you are in a hurry. She had a large plastic flower pot filled with sand and some kind of oil (motor oil? I don’t know much about oils) and you could stick your garden tools in it to get the dirt off quickly and oil them at the same time. I think she knocked the big chunks of dirt off of course. That way the tools didn’t get rusty like they do if you just leave them and they are ready to go when you get back to your gardening.

Judy, I can’t believe that he didn’t buy at least two at that price! I bought Jerry one years ago at Sears and it has held up very well. He keeps tools and bags of potting soil, fertilizer etc. in there. He loves it!
JudyL says
They only had one.

We bought one years ago and it holds our two garbage cans.
Works great and looks like it will outlive me!!!

Yes….we do have to give Vince a pat on the back for this one!

I love a good bargain … especially when it’s for something you need and can use right away!

Would Vince like to do my Christmas shopping???

That looks great! I wonder if there’s anything that good at the one about 3 miles from me. I might have to check that out. I could use a small shed.

LOVE the shed! And I do the sand in a pot thing with my tools, if and when they make it back to the sandy pot thing. We use regular motor oil and it does work. Often they just stay on the front or back porch which ever I come in. At least I know where to find them.

Wow – that’s terrific! I got a 10′ x 12′ garden shed a few years ago and my brother put it up for me. It’s like a second garage almost — since my garage barely has room for my car in it! It handles my push mower, tubs of Christmas decorations, garden supplies, canning supplies (in the off-season), ladder, etc. I love having the extra room.

Oh my – this is GREAT!!! Will it live right in the veggie garden? That’s just perfect for the things you use on a regular basis. SCORE!
